"I'll ask this once," Vanessa said. "What the hell is going on?"
"Well, Alex is poisoned and going to die, there's a stranger in our midst who's supposed to be our enemy and she's claiming that I'm her descendant. Come on, keep up 'Nessa," Emma said snarkily.
"Speaking of Alex being poisoned and about to die," Lysandra said, "Will you bloody let me through so I can heal him?"
After a moment, Emma nodded grimly and stood to the side. Kendra was sure that if Alex wasn't about to die she would've already have killed her. "If you harm him, I will track you down if you flee, and if you remain, I will gut you while you're still alive, peel out your eyeballs and squish them beneath my feet, then end your sorry existence."
Lysandra glided forward, rolling her exquisite eyes as she did so. "And they said I was dramatic. It runs in the family."
She placed a hand on the palm of a dagger and everyone tensed. "Calm down and let me work," she said, rolling her eyes again. She opened Alex's mouth, and unsheathed the dagger. She quickly jerked it across her arm, opening a deep cut with blood gushing out of it. She turned her arm so the blood was flowing into his mouth.
The crimson, thick liquid dripped off her arm and down his throat, a little falling out of his mouth, running down his chin and neck, then staining the white sheets of the bed. After about a minute or two of him drinking her blood, he seemed to be regaining his color and didn't look so close to the verge of death. She pulled her arm away from his mouth and walked backwards, stumbling a little as she did so. It must have been the blood loss.
Suddenly, Alex shot up from his position on the bed, rolling off of it and snatching a dagger from his bedside table in the process. "What in the name of hell happened?" He snarled in a dark tone.
Emma came forward and rested her hand on his shoulder. "Someone shot you. A poison dart." She was trembling, trembling with rage and fear and terror. "This is Lysandra. She healed you. And she's --"
"Our ancestor," Alex interrupted.
"How'd you --" Emma started to ask.
"She's the spitting image of Aunt Victoria before she died(she wasn't mentioned yet and she won't be important so you don't have to bother remembering her after this chapter)." Alex explained. "Not to mention that I could hear bits and pieces of your conversation."
"If you all would mind moving to the study where there is more room, I'll explain everything there," Lysandra said, a bit uncomfortably. "Well, not everything, but most things."
Grandpa Sorenson lead the way down the attic stairs and to the study, and strode to the desk seat, Grandma standing behind him. Everyone else sat down in the comfortable chairs.
Lysandra took a deep breath, and briefly closed her eyes. "As you all know, I am Lysandra. That's what I have been going as for many, many centuries. I'm supposed to be the villain in your story, and it's right that you all should be on your guard. I'm something no one in this world has ever encountered. A legend forgotten by most and not believed in by every. After all, I am the only one of my kind who roams this world."
"But let me tell you this. I have loved and hated and built and destroyed. The demon who considers herself my mother, Celaena, is the one who makes me do everything. She has power over me. Power over a being who should never be unleashed upon the world. You see, I'm not from this world. I was queen of a territory in another world. My inner court and I stumbled upon a Portal to this world, and we couldn't figure out how to go back. We tried practically everything. We searched the world, wandered around for ages, and then we came across Celaena. She told us that she could send us back . . . And we believed her. We were weary, and tired and on the verge of giving up."
"And that's when she did what demons are known for. She tricked us. She took my friends' souls and trapped them in cages. I was left, because I was the most powerful of my group. She threatened to destroy the souls of my loved ones if I didn't help her. So I did. I was used, yet again."
"Again?" Emma asked curiously.
Lysandra waved her hand dismissively. "Long story that isn't relevant. Anyway, Celaena took my cousin, my best friend, and my lover's souls and put them in small heart pendants. She used to wear them on a chain, keeping them around her neck where I could see them. After she was captured by a couple of unicorns, she managed to keep one with her. She used the remainder of her magic to scatter the other two across the world. Celaena stayed in Zzyx along with the other demons, until it opened a few years back. She wasn't captured, and snuck away from the others."
"Did you find any pendants?" Alex asked.
"I found one, my cousin. The pendants are identical, pure white at the center and at the edges it looks like they are live fires. They pulse and hum when someone wears one."
"Is this what you were looking for?" Kendra asked, pulling something from the neckline of her shirt. It was the heart Emma had given her.
Yeah, yeah I know, crappy ending. I wasn't sure how to finish it. Sorry for the wait, I had some things going on in my life. Because of those "things" it's been hard finding the motivation to write. Updates will be random from now on.
