Chapter 6

Seth jogged up to where Emma, Kendra and Alexander were sitting by the pool. "Hey guys," he said, panting slightly.

"Hey Seth," they chorused in unison.

Seth looked at them in shock. "That was creepy. The twins I was expecting, but really Kendra?"

Kendra rolled her eyes. "It wasn't intentional. What's up?"

Seth pointed back at the house. "Grandpa is calling another meeting. Apparently, there's a visitor, and he's received information about what's happening with the people that are being turned to stone."

Emma and Alex tensed. Then, they nodded in unison. "We'll be there in a moment."

Kendra tilted her head to the side. "Who's the guest?" she asked curiously. She was in for a big surprise when she saw him.

Seth smirked. "Someone you'll be overjoyed at seeing again," he said, giving a vague answer.

Kendra punched him in the shoulder. "That so narrows it down."

Seth grinned. "Exactly," he said, before darting away back inside the house. Kendra was going to be ecstatic about who he was. After all, she had a major crush on Bracken, didn't she?  Seth thought.

~~ Time skip to when they're all assembled in the study ~~

"The reason I brought you all here," Grandpa said, looking at Tanu, Vanessa, Grandma, Seth, Kendra, Alexander and Emmanuelle for a moment, "is because, as you know, people have been turning to stone. First, the twins' parents, then Warren. We've been asking all around to see if anyone has any leads, and we've finally gotten a positive response. That's the purpose of our visitor. Come in, Bracken."

Seth saw his sister tense for a moment, and the twins share a look. Did they know who Bracken was? After all, their mother was a dryad, and Emma had been to the fairy realm before.

Bracken strode in, poised and confident. "It's nice to see you all again, but this isn't a social visit. I'm afraid that I know what's going on with the petrificated people. You all know that the fairy realm was the demon prison Zzyzx for millennia. Most demons entered the ex-fairy realm, but some chose to stay in the fairy realm. Our forces were stretched thin in the fairy realm, and some of the demons were so well protected, it would have been a suicide mission to attack them until everyone was finished with the building."

Vanessa compressed her lips. "I'm guessing that one of these demons have escaped your realm, fled here and is some type of demon that turns people to stone."

Bracken sighed. "That's actually very close. Yes, the demon escaped from the fairy realm, but this demon -- her name is Celaena -- has a daughter in the mortal world. My guess is that they are teaming up to destroy all of those who locked away the demons. I have no idea how she turns people to stone, but she's a trained assassin. She looks exactly like a human except for a ring of gold around her eyes, or pure gold eyes."

Seth raised an eyebrow. "Gold?"

Bracken nodded. "That's actually where her daughter Lysandra gets her power. She's a fire-wielder, the strongest in the world. Her eyes are pure gold when she uses her powers. She also looks like a human. The thing is, she's not exactly a demon. Celaena killed her parents and took Lysandra as a daughter. No one knows what she is."

Emma rubbed her forehead. "This is absolutely great. Just great. Legend has it that her fire can burn down the world if she wants it to. They say she's goddess-blessed. As powerful as the Demon King and Fairy Queen."
