Surprises

Metropolitans... Always packed with buzzing crowd, exalted buildings and thumping energy.  It's also the place where a person's life is less valuable than a business call. One such call and now a notable business man is unconscious inside his EcoSport rammed into a truck.

Strangely these kind of accidents bring out my anger instead of empathy. Maybe the fact that one such accident was the cause of me getting pushed into orphanage was the reason. Sending a small prayer for his family and trying my level best to control the growing anxiety, I checked my mobile. It's been twenty minutes and I'm still struck in traffic 50 feet away from my husband's office. Annoyed, I decided to leave my car and reach the destination by walk.

I wasn't called impulsive without reason.

When I took the sidewalk I realized with start that I was standing in front of the pastry shop which has witnessed all my emotions.

I remember my sixteen year old self stirring an espresso vigorously, trying to controll my tears after my first fight with Abhi.

I remember a scrawny Abhi and me celebrating the joyous news of getting selected in the same institute for doing our undergraduate degree, over a vanilla cake.

I remember him pushing me into the kitchen on the pretext of hiding me from the predatory eyes of Aarav.

I remember the twenty three year old girl sitting in dim corner confused and shaking with fear on realizing that she was loosing her heart to the persistent admirer.

The shop has underwent major renovations over years yet it has never lost its quaint cozy aura. It's strange that I haven't visited this place over a year. Precisely, after my first anniversary.

Again a pink hue painted my cheeks on that memory. Aarav like Riya is quite opposite to me which deliberately meant that he is great at expressing his romantic side.

That guy filled my post box with hundred "letters from sectert admirer" to celebrate the 100th day of "his Princess waltzing into his life". Cue to eye rolls.

He broke into my apartment, transforming the living room into a Greek garden paradox with rustic decor. Finding the door open I was ready to mash the face of the intruder with my boot but the mesmerizing decor tied me to the spot I stood that I wasn't even able to move towards the man kneeling before me holing a bunch of white peonies.

"Hey love!

Shocked? Of course you will be...

Never thought it was your senior pouring his heart out to you through letters, huh?

I was smitten the moment my eyes fell on you, love. I won't lie that you are the most beautiful woman to walk on earth but your exotic beauty and maverick aura entrapped me into a whirlwind of emotions which I'm not planning to get out of.

The feelings which I ignored as mere attraction have now rooted themselves deep into my heart.

Initially I couldn't conjure why my every thought and action ended up being linked to you. But now I can see that our destiny played its role on implanting the idea of 'us' into my mind which had now intervened itself to every living cell within me.

I know you are a fragile butterfly hiding behind this mask of lioness and I swear to take care of that beautiful fragile side of yours, shielding you from every harm.

I won't promise you the moon and stars but I promise you a eternity filled with love.

I will treat you like the princess you are and make me your world"
