getting through

mystery boy

       i woke up to the sound of explosions and my mother screaming.i sit up and grabbed both guns on the bedside table.i run half awake to my brother who sleeps on the bed.he wakes up with eyes full of terror .''don't freak out on me OK stay next to me and stay quiet''he nods and get off the bed not before grabbing his crucifix .he clings on to me while i try to stay calm myself.i grab my gloves and put the gun in my holster that i so strangely slept with.i walked to my parents room and saw my father holding on to my mother while she screamed hysterically.i rolled my eyes and pleaded with my father to shut her up.''honey i need you to shut up or we wont get out of here alive''she shuts up immediately but her eyes are wide with panic.''we need to leave''my dad looks at me ''don't you think i know that ! get ready pack everything you can especially food''.i leave my brother with my father and try to find a bag and run downstairs.

i picked all foods that can be eaten cold and didn't even check for expiration dates.then i heard someone moving in the basement and turned around.it was a boy.i haven't seen one in weeks .I'm not boy crazed but when the only male specimen in your house is your family it gets annoying.i hold on to the gun while he comes closer into view.''I'm not gonna hurry you I'm not infected are you ?''.i look at him trying to find out how he got here and if hes telling the truth.''no'' i say my voice surprisingly steady''how'd you get here''.''I've been living in a little trap room in the basement which you so carelessly missed i was actually begging for someone to find me''he grins naturally.i turn around and continue packing.i can tell hes uncomfortable by the creaking of the floorboards.''are you going to find a bag and help or not ?''i say demanding.

we walk to where my dad is with my mother gathering supplies.he sees the boys WHO's name i haven't bothered to find out and pulls out a gun with his hand on the trigger.mystery boy flinch's.''dad no! hes not infected''.my dad looks at me like I've said something dumb.''i know but i want to know why this boy is in this house''.i rolled my eyes my dad is really overprotective.another explosion fires this time closer to the house and my dad gives mystery one more sweeping look then starts screaming directions.''i need you to stay with your brother Athena and the boy, change your close if you Can put something light on''.''what about calian ?,there aren't any clothes for him!!?''.my dad just nods then goes to the closet and tells my mother to make something of it.''i have some shirts down there that are good enough for him but he can keep the pants''mystery boy says.he just gets weirder and weirder by the moment.i give him a questioning look and he shrugs.he shrugs allot.

i put on a pair of sneakers the only ones that fit me in this house and my regular Nike running shoes in my bag.another explosion goes off but this one hits the house i know it .i finish tying my  shoes grab my bag and run downstairs . my father screams from upstairs to run and don't look back.i see calian and mystery boy and we start off running going through the door mystery boy in front and me in the back calian in the middle .another explosion goes off and i look back nearly falling on top of my brother.i don't see my mom or dad and i panic.i keep running and we don't stop until we're far enough from the house.one more explosion goes off and then i see my dad running.i smile we're gonna make i think another explosion goes off and the the whole house is engulf in fire.my dad get thrown aside by the impact his neck cracks as he hits the ground and he goes eerily limp.it takes some time for me to realize what just happened .i scream and start running towards my dad but someone starts pulling me back .i squirm in who i think is mystery boys hands but he isn't letting go.i need to get to my dad. i need to. he pulls me and turns me into his chest.i punch him trying to get him off me then slowly and awkwardly fall to the floor with him I'm crying and mystery boy is holding me.this never would've happened before this random boys hugging me .then my brothers long lanky arms find their way around me and we just stay like that rocking back and forth sobbing while mystery boy keeps me grounded
