A/N: yay drama also I know this chapter is short fuck you too

Patrick

"You like Pete, don't you?" I froze, Andy waiting patiently for my response on the phone. "N-No, I don't." He sighed. "Yes, you do." "Look, Andy, I don't know why you decided to randomly call me and ask me that, but the answer is no, okay? It's no."

"Patrick, I know you do, okay?" I stayed silent. "I know from the way you act around him and the way you look at him. I know you do." I quietly responded, "Why are you asking me this?" "Patrick, he didn't tell you, but I've known him for his whole life. I'm the one who's known him the longest. Me and Joe." "What does that have to do with it?"

"It means I know when something's up with him." I scoffed, unaware of how rude I sounded. "There's nothing up with him. He doesn't like me. I'm in love with someone who'll never love me back." Andy was silent for a moment.

"So you love him." "Andy, just-"
"Patrick, he loves you." "Stop. Just stop, Andy," he didn't say anything as I continued, "he doesn't. Okay? He doesn't. No one could. Stop trying to make me believe something that's impossible."

"Have you not seen the way he acts around you?" I scoffed. "What, the flirting? He does that with everyone. I'm nothing special. Not at all." "No, Patrick, he doesn't. Only with you." I stopped. "You're lying." "I'm not." "No. He does it with everyone. He just doesn't know how much it actually affects me."

"Affects you how?" I bit my lip, frustrated. "He does it with everyone, but when he does it with me it makes me want to believe he likes me back." "Patrick-" "Just save it, Andy! Look, I-I don't know why you decided to fuck with me, like some sick joke, but just give it up."

He was quiet for a moment, and I just blinked away the tears that had formed as I tried to calm down. "Then ask him." "Ask him what?" I replied, annoyed. "Someday, he'll get the courage to do something more. Not flirt, not anything like that. He'll do it. Something he wouldn't do with anyone else," he paused. "and when he does, ask him." I was about to say something when he added, "Ask him if he means it." I didn't respond. He then sighed out, "Bye, Patrick." The sound of a 'click' snapped me out of my thoughts. He'd hung up.

I sat down on my bed heavily, just staring at the wall as my lip started to quiver. Then the tears came. I started crying, harder than I expected, and I hugged my knees to my chest as I continued sobbing. I didn't hear Brendon come in, and I didn't hear him gently sit on the bed next to me. But I felt him wrap his arms around me.

I looked up, through tears, and stuttered out, "W-What are you-" He interrupted me, shaking his head. "It's okay, Patrick. I'm right here." He hugged me tighter and I swallowed before whispering out, "Bren?" He nodded in response. "I-I think I'm in love with Pete."
