"It wasn't my fault!" Aidan suddenly shouted as the screen turned black. "They made me do it! They made me do it!" He kept shouting, trying to escape from his chair.

I looked back at the TV, the screen was still pitch black.

Did I imagine everything?

Was it just in my head, just like the ropes?

What did Aidan see?

I looked at Theo, he was already looking at me.

"Anything to deny?" He raised an eyebrow.

"How did you get those images?" I knew I was not allowed to ask questions, but I could not help it. There were some things that I needed to know.

"I am an Eye, Nolah." He smiled. "Each time there was a window, each time there was an opened door, each time you felt observed, each time you went out, each time you did not close your window before going to sleep, I was there. We were there, watching you. Eyes are everywhere, Nolah. We're around you, with you, within you."

"I had to do it. I had to do it. I had to-" Aidan kept whispering to himself, swinging back and forth onto his chair. He looked crazy.

"He's weaker than what I thought." Theo chuckled looking at me.

"Maybe I can go and talk to him." I offered.

"Maybe not." He glared at me. "Let's just get done with this." He sighed. "For how long have you felt observed?" He asked.

Aidan looked away from the floor and his eyes finally met mine.

"I can't remember." He answered.

For as long as I could remember, I have always felt observed. Not just seen by the people I could meet in the streets - I felt observed by something that I could not see, something beyond human. I felt watched and analysed. I knew I was never alone. However, I thought I was just being paranoid, I thought I was becoming crazy. Well, maybe I was actually not. Maybe it was them, maybe it was their eyes.

"For as long as I can remember." I added.

"How did it feel like?" He asked.

"Evil." Aidan whispered.

Theo typed something onto the tablet he was holding and looked back at me. He was patiently waiting for my answer. His look triggered a sort of rush in my mind. Theo surely did not appreciate Aidan's answer and I could not just ignore it.
Somehow, Aidan and I were a team. We had to act like one and support each other, no matter what, through the ups and downs.

"Not good." I answered looking at the poor guy in front of me.

It was not a complete lie. I always knew that this feeling of being observed was not a good thing, but I never qualified it as being evil. It was actually quite neutral. I knew that it was there, all around me, but I also knew that they had no impact on me. I knew that they would not hurt me. The Eyes were just there, watching me from afar.
Until now.

"I don't like it when you lie to me." Theo frowned and shook his head.

"I wasn't lying." I tried to keep my voice as neutral as possible.

"You weren't telling the truth either." He held my gaze.

My brain did not think fast enough and it did not come up with an answer right on time. He knew I was lying, I could not hide anything from him. I was trapped.

"I get it," Theo rolled his eyes. "You're only protecting him. But in the meantime, you are putting yourself in danger. And if you are in danger, he is as well."
