In the hallway of the house, just in front of what seemed to be the living room, there were two other people sitting on a bench. I took my glasses off and with my sleeves, I wiped the water away away from them.

The wallpaper of the hallway looked old and it smelled like an old house too.

I slowly walked and sat on the bench in front of them with an awkward smile on my face. I did not know who these people were.

One of them was a little girl. Blond hair, blue eyes, small lips. She was wearing a clear blue Smock Dress with small white vintage shoes. She looked like she freshly came out of an 1800s film. The weirdest thing is that she might have been between six or seven-years-old. What is she doing here? Solving riddles for money?

The other person was a guy. He must have been around my age and he was damn cute. He had pretty common features, the same brown eyes as mine, brown hair and cute full lips. He was quite charming with his angelic face.

"Are you going to stare at me for the rest of your life?" He smiled.

I quickly looked away, I did not realise that I was staring at him this whole time. To hide my nervousness, I tied my curls into a bun and readjusted my glasses onto the top of my nose. My clothes were completely wet.

"I'm Aidan, by the way." His brown eyes were still looking at me.

"Nolah." I forced a smiled.

"What are we doing here?" The little girl asked us.

"You don't know why you're here?" Aidan asked back.

"I don't." She shrugged her shoulders. "A lady asked me something, I got the answer right and here I am."

"What's your name?" I ask.

How could I ignore the fact that this little girl was all alone? She solved that riddle on her own and got into the house of a stranger. I wondered what education her parents gave her.

Aidan apparently knew what he was doing in that house, I was sure he ended up there on purpose, but the little girl? It was most likely not possible. It did not make any sense.

"Ambrose." She smiled, playfully kicking her feet in the air.

That was such a beautiful name.

"Where are your parents, Ambrose?" I tried to smile.

"At home, I guess. My nanny was supposed to pick me up from school, but she did not come. I decided to go home by myself. I'm a big girl!" She concluded.

"Your parents must be so worried about you!" I grabbed my phone and squatted in front of her. "Do you know their phone number?"

"Come on, Nolah! She's five! I'm sure she doesn't even know the alphabet."

"Actually, I do know my ABC's."

She began to sing to prove him wrong.

"All right, come on." I gently grabbed her hand. "I'll take you home."

"You shouldn't do that." Aidan shook his head, looking at the wall in front of him.

"This is not a place for a child, Aidan!" I glared at him.

"Well, maybe this is a place for her. She found the answer to her first riddle, if she wants to play and Florence said so, at least she can try." The smile on his face pissed me off.

"For God's sake, Aidan! She's just a child! I bet the production needs her parents' authorisation."

"Well, if they do, it's their problem, not yours."

His carelessness about Ambrose slightly bugged me. His sweet eyes were showing kindness, but his words were full of stupidity and rudeness. I checked the time on my watch. Maybe I can leave her at the closest police station before the show begins.

I did not even know why Florence made us wait. I stood up and waited for Ambrose to stand up too.

"If you walk through that door, you won't be able to come back. It's the rule, and you know it."

It felt like my brain had been stroked by lightning for a tiny second. When I came back to my senses, I knew exactly what Aidan was talking about. I had to sit back.

"Don't leave without permission or you'll immediately be eliminated." I repeated some rules I have never heard before, yet I knew them by heart.

"Don't try to wave at the cameras, don't look at them, don't touch them nor directly talk to them, unless you are told too." Aidan added.

"Don't ask for help. Giving up is not option. Running away is not an option." Ambrose completed.

"Drop your phones and any other electrical device in this box before we start." Florence smiled joining us. "It's time to start."
