Eighteen year old Tyler was your average hood boy. He had the looks, the money, the mentality, and the personality to match. He was your poppin pretty boy. He had all the ladies, tattoos, and shoes. He had status, you could call him bighomie.
Aside from his hood status, Ty was fresh out of high school. He graduated with honors, and remained a honor student throughout his 12 years of school. He was street and book smart. You might as well name him a king. He can get anything he wants, and nothing can get in the way of it. He was a determined ass person.
"Ty! You going to the pool today?" Ty BestFriend, Teshawn Mills, asked.
"Uh, I don't know g. Who all going to be there?" Ty questioned.
"I heard that Melanie Scott was going to be there." Teshawn smirked.
Melanie Scott has been Tyler crush since the 5th grade. Melanie was the only girl Ty would ever take serious if he ever got her by his side. Melanie was the book smart type girl. She had everything you could ask for. The body, brain, personality, and the mentality. She would never pay attention to a street nigga like Tyler. She proved it all their years growing up.
"Mel going to be there?" Ty smiled.
"Aww shit. Goon still crushing." Shawn teased.
"I don't even think it is a crush anymore man." Ty smiled.
Melanie was the woman of Tyler life. He always vowed to get her before he turned 20. He wanted to show her that not all street niggas were the same. He wanted to make Melanie his queen of his castle. Melanie was the type of woman you can only get one chance with, and Tyler wanted one. He craved her.
"We going to that party." Tyler blurted without thought.
A hour passed and Tyler found himself standing on the wall with his cup of punch. He laid eyes on Melanie numerous times during this party. He could not find the courage to talk to her. She made him weak, and she was the first girl ever make him feel this way. Other than his mother, she was the queen of his world.
"Aye man. Go make your move. She is bored, you are bored. Work it out playa." Shawn encouraged.
"Man, what if she reject me?" Ty responded worried.
"Fuck how it turn out. Do what you got to do to get your baby." Shawn snapped.
Ty sighed in defeat. He knew Shawn was right about this situation. The only way he would know what Melanie type is if he found out for himself.
"I got this." Ty huffed.
Tyler made his way towards Melanie. He was scared out his mind. He only prayed she would hear him out. Little did Tyler know, Melanie was having the same thoughts about him.
"Hey Mel! Long time no see?" Ty laughed nervously.
"Uh yeah! I haven't seen you since graduation. I'm still in shocked how we are now adults." Melanie softly smiled.
"Yeah. A nigga proud they made it. Ya know these niggas could have took me out a long time again babygirl." Ty sighed thankfully.
"I'm glad they didn't..." Mel blushed.
"Why you say that?" Ty questioned.
"Everybody deserve to live. I mean uh- damnit." Mel answered nervously.
"Why you so nervous?" Ty whispered.
"Sit down. I will tell you." Mel sighed.
The two began to discuss the years worth of feelings for each other. It's almost like there was no party around them. Tyler felt as if it was just them two alone. Melanie felt that he was the only guy she seen in that setting. It was a beautiful sight to see. Teshawn watched the two bond. He was proud of his young nigga for making a boss move.
Job well done.Teshawn thought.
Days turned into months, months turned into years. The two were building bonds, stacking decks, and even starting a family. You would never see the two without each other. Tyler was Melanie world. Melanie was Tyler everything. The two would catch themselves reminiscing over their past.
"Baby can you believe a party bought us together?" Melanie whispered to Tyler.
"Yeah! I was scared as fuck that night. It's all thanks to Teshawn ass." Tyler admitted.
"I was praying that day would happen. Every since the 5th grade. You never came. You would have been my first everything." Melanie whispered.
"Our Journey been a beautiful ass Journey. Met in elementary and became friends in middle school. We split high school days, but we found our way back. Now here we are. 4 years after this party. You are now Mrs.Melanie Duncan. You are carrying my twins. We both got great careers. You helped me get out of the streets." Tyler smiled proudly.
"I wouldn't have it no other way baby." Melanie rubbed her 6 month belly.
"Me either. I'm proud of who you made me become." Tyler remarked.
"Forever and always baby. MT4L" Melanie giggled.
"You damn right." Tyler smiled.
