Phil

When Phil got back to the castle he remembered two things.

1. He forgot to get cereal.

2. The castle is far from Dan. He was probably right about his hour walk estimate.

He mentally cursed himself for forgetting the cereal, that was the whole point of his excuse to get out! No doubt the servants will interrogate him harshly once he gets back inside.

'Where were you? Where'd you go? Your father will kill us for your stupid mistake,' he could hear it all now. Not to mention if his father knew...well, Phil would never be able to step foot outside the castle again without someone accompanying him.

No doubt his father would erupt like a volcano of rage and Phil would be at the receiving end.

What if you were kidnapped? What if you were murdered? His father would say to which Phil would have to respond with a 'I understand father,' as politely as possible.

He stood outside the gates to the entrance of the castle. He's never been outside the front of the castle for long so he never knew where his room was. He didn't even know if it was on the west or east wing.

What did it even look like from the outdoors? He wondered. Naturally he thought it wasn't anything too grand from outside. No shiny banner with sparkling lights that say, 'Prince Philip's Room!' With a giant arrow pointing to the window.

He smiled to himself at the thought, how absurd. No house would ever have one of those on them. Especially not the monarch's castle.

He headed right towards the east wing, deciding that is as good as a guess as any. It was better to choose one side then go straight through the doors. Then he'd really be screwed. He should've thought about his plan to get back inside unnoticed, but the excitement of seeing Dan for the first time in what felt like an eternity got the best of him, so it slipped his mind.

However, he was fine with the consequence. He'd sacrifice most things just to be with Dan again.

He neared the first window on the east side of the castle. There would be no way to climb into one of the higher up rooms, so Phil will have to go through the back door. Now how he'd get there, he didn't know. It wasn't like they had a small garden gate like a normal home would have. He didn't even know if it was possible to even reach a back door entrance from the front of the castle. He didn't even know if he had a back door. He doubted both things highly.

Realizing there would be no possible way in, Phil decided to accept his fate and head in through the front doors. With a defeated sigh he headed from the east wing back to the front of the castle. He knocked on the door, knowing he wouldn't be able to stroll in there and waited awkwardly out front.

Whilst he waited he mentally rehearsed what he was going to say to whoever opened the door. He cycled between witty comments, a simple sheepish hello, or slipping the person who answered a bunch of pounds.

The door opened slowly, knocking him out of his thoughts to reveal a very surprised looking servant.

"Prince Phillip...what are you doing out there? How did you...?" The servant asked, then glanced behind them and back as if to make sure what they were seeing was real.

"That's not important, but I need you to do me a huge favor. Please tell no one about this, my father absolutely cannot know this happened. If he knew I went outside the castle without his permission he would surely kill me. I'll give you a great sum of pounds for your word of secrecy," Phil whispered to the servant as he stepped inside.
