"What's your favorite color?" Peter Parker asked Aspen, kicking his dangling feet childishly.
After their pizza dinner, Peter convinced Aspen to go on top of a building with him. He wanted to spend as much time as possible with the girl, and that night as honestly one of the best one's he'd ever had--he never wanted it to end.
So, there they were: two physically enhance teenagers sitting on top of a skyscraper talking about their favorite things.
"Blue, obviously." Aspen smiled and looked down at her dirty blue sneakers. "You?"
"Red."
Aspen cracked a grin at his response, "we make your suit."
Peter laughed and nodded, "yeah, we do."
"Alright, my turn." Aspen said looking out at the city lights thoughtfully.
"Favorite memory?" She finally spoke, turning to the boy.
Peter took in a deep breath and thought about his response carefully.
"When I was little, Aunt May and Uncle Ben would take me to get ice cream every Friday night. We would sit and watch the sunset, and talk about anything in the world. They were so happy." Peter looked down sadly and shook his head. "But, uh, yeah. That was always the best."
Aspen's eyes searched the boy's face. She had never heard him mention his Uncle before.
"What happened to your Uncle?" She softly asked, hoping she wasn't overstepping any boundaries.
"He, uh," Peter swallowed thickly, "He died a while back. He was shot by a criminal that I could've stopped but didn't. I-It was my fault."
Aspen didn't say anything, and she really didn't need to. She just simply grabbed Peter's hand and let him speak to her without any interruption.
"But he taught me something before it happened: with great power comes great responsibility. So I guess that's really why I do everything that I do now to protect people. Because if I don't, if I let one criminal go, someone else could die and that would be on me."
"That's a heavy weight to put on your shoulders." Aspen spoke up.
The boy just shrugged before shaking his head and turning to face her. "Well what about you? What's your favorite memory?"
Allowing the change in conversation, Aspen let her eyes fall back to the lights of the world around her as she reminisced her childhood.
"My parents took me camping in Gatlinburg once when I was younger. I remember sitting by the fire eating thousands of s'mores and singing stupid songs obnoxiously loud. Then my dad and I laid down on our sleeping bags and looked up at the stars. He showed me all of the constellations and told me facts about the planets. I think it was that day that I fell in love with the moon." A small smile graced it's way across her pink lips as she spoke.
Peter watched as the girl spoke. He was completely enticed by her.
The wind was blowing her hair around her face wildly, but that only made her more beautiful. The reflection of the city below her shone on her face and she began to glow like an angel from heaven. Every color of her being from the pink of her cheeks to the brown of her eyes seemed to be glowing warmer than any star he could ever imagine.
She was smiling a soft, closed mouth smile, but the happiness in her eyes made it seem as though she was a beaming light of joy. When she remembered her family, it didn't matter what darkness was clouding her in that moment, for she would float away on a cloud of pure bliss instantly.
