3rd Person POV

The entire time that Evan was stuck in the hospital, you'd go to visit him, and stay the entire visiting hours. In order to save him from disgusting hospital food, you'd bring some homemade food. Not anything amazing, just better than chemicals and sketchy Jell-O. You wouldn't admit it, but during those few weeks, he'd become your one and only friend, and a close one for that matter. Exactly 1 week after you'd brought him to the hospital, he was allowed to leave. You'd never seen him so relieved, but then again you hadn't seen very many of his emotions.

While you comforted Evan at the hospital, you were able to meet his mother a few times. She was a nurse that worked at the hospital, who you found out from Evan, was in school to become a lawyer. Heidi, his mother, had given him money and a shopping list the day he was let out. "Get what you need for next year for school. Don't get anything extra." She advised him. Evan nodded. "T-Thanks, mom. I'll show y-you what I got when you get h-home." He said quickly. You smiled nervously and waved goodbye to her. The two of you left the hospital and drove straight to your house to get some money and permission from your parents.

"D-do you wanna wait in t-the car? You could c-come in! O-Only if you want to! I wont make y-you do anything t-that you don't w-want!" You said quickly. "Um.. C-can I wait in t-the car?" Evan asked you. You nodded and sprinted to your front door. You opened the door and went upstairs to your room to grab your wallet. "Mom? Dad? Can I go out with Evan?" You yelled through the house, making sure your parents could hear. "Hello?!" You searched through the house and they ended up being in the pool. You had gotten slightly (very) nervous while looking for them.

"Hey, could I go out with Evan? Back to school shopping." You asked them. "Of course! Do you have money? Your phone?" Your mom asked. "Yes... to both. I'll be back in a few hours. Love you!" You said to both your parents and left the house. You ran to the car, and started it. "Hey, E-Evan? Where do y-you normally go for uh back to school s-shopping?" You asked him.

Only a few stutters that time! Yes! You congratulated yourself.

"There's a-a mall not t-too far away from h-here. I-I normally go there," Evan responded. "I c-can take us there." He told you where to go left, right, if you had to stay on the same road, and you got there fairly quickly. A few mistakes were of course made, slowing the two of you down, but you made it. The two of you listened to your music on the way there, and decided to listen to Evan's on the way back from the mall.

You took a deep breath and concentrated on not stuttering, after all theres no reason to be nervous anymore, right? "Which store do y-you wanna go to first?" You said slowly. Evan grinned slightly, he was proud of you. He tried doing what you did as well, but he ended up talking quickly. "How about Target? I-It's across the mall t-though!" Just a few stutters, but it was definitely progress. You were also proud of him, and ended up with a smile on your face too.

"That's fine! I told my parents I-I'd be here for a-a few hours." You, once again, said slowly. The two of you started walking to the other side of the mall and found Target. It was one of the biggest stores in the mall. "How about we look for b-binders first?" Evan suggested. You agreed and started a competition, you could call it, for the best binder.

"This one is 8.. No w-wait 6 inches. Sorry. An-Anyways! It could carry lots of uh... Pages! In it!" You rambled to Evan about the binder. "Ooh, this one also comes in.. Only gray. N-Nevermind!" Evan laughed quietly at the things you were saying. "Colour doesn't really matter. T-to me at least!" He told you. "Size does though. I-I mean, I think so. If you wanna have everything in uh, one binder."

"I mean, that's most innovative, r-right? Makes everything a little easier? Well, this ones actually 8 inches! Wait... Y-yeah! 8 inches!" You grinned at your success in actually being able to read. "Hold on.. 8 inches wide?" Evan asked. "No, long. I-I mean, Evan. Just-just look at it! I-It's not that huge!" You exclaim.

After discussing about different binders, you decided to go with a 6 inch(F/C) binder, and Evan got the same type, in blue. The rest of the shopping was relatively easy, other than running to one end of Target to the other.

There was an instance where you'd been looking for pencils, which should've been by the pencil cases, right? Evan decided because he couldn't see any pencils, that automatically it would be on the opposite end of the store! He made the two of you run all the way there, only for the pencils not to be there. Then, you had to go through the awkwardness and horror of asking an employee where the pencils were. She explained and pointed to the area you were just at! You thanked her, and made your way back to the original spot.

"I knew it! I-I told you it'd be ri-right here!" You groaned. "I-It's fine, (Y/N)! We got some uh, exercise!" Evan grinned. "Whatever you say, tree boy." You said cockily. He scoffed and the two of you started laughing.

Once the two of you got everything you needed, you went to the checkout area and paid for everything. Since it's Target, it ended up being somewhat expensive. The two of you decided that all you really needed, you had just bought.

"I mean, I don't d-disagree with you, but don't you wanna get lunch o-or something?" Evan asked. "Evan Hansen, are you asking me on an unofficial date?" You responded jokingly. He didn't realize it was a joke and started blushing and stuttering all over the place. "N-no I'd nev-never do t-that! U-unless you want m-me to! I-I mean, it-it's wh-whatever, y-y'know?"

"I'm so sorry! O-oh my god.. I was joking, Ev." You explained quickly. Evan lead the two of you to the food court, where you got Taco Bell, and Evan got Burger King. (I'm sorry if ur vegan or vegetarian. Just modify this however you must) You ate quickly, due to the fact that Evan just got a text from his mom saying that he needs to get home.

"Okay, we need to get going. Y-Your mom really wants you home." You pointed out, as he got several more texts from Heidi. "O-oh yeah. Sorry for, uh cutting this short." He blushed in embarrassment. "No need to apologize! It's fine." You said, throwing in a grin to make sure he understood. The two of you quickly got out of the mall and looked for your car.

"Oh," you exclaimed, making Evan jump. "S-sorry! I found t-the car." You unlocked it then you and Evan jumped in. You handed him the AUX cord and let him play his music. He was hesitant at first about playing his music, but slowly got more comfortable about it.
His music taste resembled him. It could be considered alternative indie. But it was quiet and relaxing.

You got back to Evan's house around 20 minutes later. It was a calm ride, neither of you spoke, but it was comfortable silence. "Um, here it is. Your mom is waiting outside, does s-she normally do that?" You asked. He shook his head and thanked you before leaving the car.

Heidi waved and you opened the window. "H-hey, Heidi!" You smiled. "Hi, (Y/N)! Thanks for taking Evan out today." She ruffled Evan's hair and grinned at you. You laughed quietly and nervously. "I-It was no problem! I n-need to get um home now though. H-Have a nice day!" You waved at her and Evan and they waved back while you drove away.
