Jim was just an ordinary school boy. Nothing but an ordinary school boy. Travelling to school like he did every day apart from the weekend. This day was different and he could sense it. Sense the danger that lies ahead further in the day. As any schoolboy would do, he ignored it. Didn't tell anyone, didn't listen to it and ignored it. To be honest, anyone would ignore that screaming voice inside their head telling them danger lurked ahead.
Anyway, he was half way to school. Wooo. Not. He hated school like most people do. Homework disgusted him and he didn't understand the purpose of homework. So he didn't do it. He told the teachers that they should do the homework with them during the lesson. He pointed out most people looked up the answers online. He said they are wasting their time marking the 'looked up homework'. After that, he earned himself an after school detention.
Jim used a pen with a skull rubber perched on top of the tip. He loved that pen, it stayed with him everywhere at school. Until today. He had left it at home - for the first time he was without it.
He was cramped into a corner of the bus, with his bag sprawled beneath the chair in front of him.
Once they arrived at school, he sat alone, scared to tell everyone he forgot his well-known skull pen. He would be unpopular. Just because of his amazing pen.
During the day, only one person questioned the pen, he replied with a shaky grin.
"It ran out and my mum has to put in new ink." He said.
Later he saw the questioning boy telling a group of people something, and they were staring right at him. It didn't feel right without that pen but he fought that feeling.
Once he arrived home, he almost ran to his pen, tucked in his pencil holder. Before he could grab it, it floated in the air and talked to him.
"How could you, Jim?" It screeched. "How could you forget me?"
"I wouldn't have... I was late!"
"You still could've taken me!"
"I, I, I was in a rush!" He cowered in a corner staring at the pen, looking majestic in the air.
"Well, you forgot me! Why do you think I have a skull on me? It was my previous owner - who also forgot me..." It cried.
"I'm so sorry!"
"No, I need your neck bone, to add to this skull!"
The pen pulled out a large knife, his knife from the kitchen and glared at him. Studying him.
"Where should I begin?"
The pen dived forward and Jim leapt to the left, barely avoiding the dangerous pen. Before Jim knew what was going on, the skull jumped off the pen and landed on Jim's face.
The pen grinned, the skull was distracting him. The pen got the knife and carefully dug it above his neck and cut out the neck bones. The mangled body laid on the floor, blood seeping from the cuts. It transformed the bones into rubber and attached it to the skull.
Before it left, it dropped the knife onto the body and flew from the room. Abandoning the dirty mess.
"I'm sorry everyone." The teacher told Jim's class, "Jim is dead. he was found dead last night with his neck missing."
"Who killed him?" asked the questioning boy.
"His mum." The teacher replied.
Everyone looked at each other and fell silent. No more questions were asked.
