Aaliyah

Ma, I literally just left my professors office. Chill please.

Mhm. Just cuz you 20 years old don't think I won't cut ya hip. You ain't grown yet lil girl. I rolled my eyes at that, her Bahamian accent was seeping through.

Who even taught you how to work FaceTime?

I bribed Ethan with ice cream and he set it up on the iPad for me. You look like a two year old with this hairstyle.

Ugh I know but, I was running late and this was the easiest thing I could think- I was cut off as I accidentally bumped into someone on my way out of the cafeteria.

"I'm so sorry, I was distracted my bad." I picked up my phone and thanked God the screen hadn't cracked.

"It's fine, I'm pretty clumsy myself." I looked up and saw this pretty girl with pink hair and a nose piercing. She was gorgeous.

"I really love your hair, it's nice."

"Thank you, your skin is gorgeous."

"I try, I'm Aaliyah and this is my mom." I showed her my phone and she laughed, Ma had her face entirely too close to the screen.

"Hello, I'm Danielle nice to meet you."

"Same here, I apologize on behalf of my daughter she's...a bit off."

"Ha. Ha. Ha." I rolled my eyes at her attempts on trying to be funny.

"It's fine" We laughed. "Maybe we can exchange numbers. I don't really do the social thing and I'm in my third year but, you seem cool."

"Sure, I'm kinda the same. Pretty sure I'd be a loner if I didn't have my bestie Taylor with me." We laughed and exchanged numbers.

"She goes here?"

"Yeah she does.."

"That's so cool, maybe we all can meet up. I'm sorry if I'm being pushy, you just seem cool and I can use some friends."

"Girl you're fine, I'll see ya"

"See ya later." College honestly was what you made it and, if you go with a mentality that you don't need anyone and everybody is out to get you then, you'll be miserable. Meeting new people was apart of this journey and you should embrace it, I'm not saying everyone should be your friend but definitely making some along the way is nice. Those life long memories should be cherished.

I made my way towards my dorm. You always were clumsy. I straight faced her. I forgot she was still on the phone.

Whaat it's true.
