Good Night

Her

His lips felt warm when he kissed me in the formal. Good thing no one saw us. Or if there was someone who noticed it, might have not recognize us because the lights in the side where we are dancing  are quiet dim.

The kiss. It was awkward though, but  I really liked it. I wanted him to do it again but I am just so shy to ask him. Again, that cheating scheme on Jake came up into my mind.

Clarkson decided to drive me home. This is kind of sweet. Jake drove me home a few times but just drops me by. He don't want to meet my parents sometimes. But Clarkson, I guess, likes meeting them much --- I don't know.

He was humming a song while on our way. Once he pulled out the car, we went out and walk me home, right at our doorstep. He rang the doorbell and my father opened the door after a millisecond.

"Guess what, you guys went home too early." Dad said  while leaning in doorpost and looking at his watch. "Did you guys enjoyed the night? I guess the formal wasn't over yet."

"W-we did---"

"We did enjoyed the formal, Reginald." Clarkson casually says. He smiles and holds my hand. "But I guess she needs to go home before the atmosphere becomes toxic. You know, some sort of usual formal endings---"

"I know." Dad cut him out, with a 'I-know-what-you-mean' tone. After he said that, footsteps from the stairs came in. It was mom. She waved as soon as she saw us. She pushed dad aside and faced the two of us.

"This is sweet!" she exclaimed. "Jake wouldn't even face your father." she giggled like a five-year-old.

Clarkson turned to me. "Why not? Is there an issue?"

"Clarkson, he can't even look me in the eyes." Dad said. He nodded and left, I guess he is watching his favorite cartoons.

"I guess Reginald just scared the hell out of Jake before." Mom said. "Reginald was just being overprotective with our little girl. "

"He was trying to cheat on our little girl, Giselle." Dad said in between from the living room.

Mom smiled again. "Thanks for taking our little girl home safe. And walking her until our doorsteps. Jake wouldn't mind, does he?"

"He doesn't mind." Clarkson replied. "I am in-charge right now. I am her date."

I am her date.  That gave me cobbywoobles.

I wonder how it would feel if he told them I am his girl. Wait, what?!

" Good." Mom said.  "If he won't, why not come here tomorrow? We'll have mini party for my little girl. "

"Oh, sure. MIni party would be great. But what for?"

"Georgina's birthday. We'll have few of her friends and relatives."

Clarkson give me a look. "Tomorrow's your birthday?! And Jake wouldn't be home until then. How could he forget your birthday?"

"He was just busy. He have games to play in few weeks."

"Still---" he took a deep breath " Things like that aren't forgotten."

"Yeah, that should not be forgotten. But people have reasons, right?" Mom said.

Clarkson said his goodbyes to me and my parents. I waved him goodbye and closed the door.

Him

Not all reasons are acceptable. Just like forgetting your girlfriend's birthday just because you have games coming in few weeks or you went to your cousin's prom or whatever it is.

When her friends told me about Jake cheating on her, I searched for Lauren McKenley if she's around. Good thing she is at the formal or else, I'll just have a suspicion he's cheating on her.

The night is young, stars shine so bright and the street is deserted. I imagine taking Georgina for a walk, dancing in the street with the rain pouring on and watching the stars together.

This sounds so gay.

But, is it even gay to fall in love?

Perhaps I am just being cheesy. Her lips couldn't help me but kiss her. It was soft and her kiss was a sincere one, its drives me crazy not to kiss her again.

I hop into my car and started the engine. Just when I was about to go home, a voice called me out.

"Clarkson!"

I looked out and saw Georgina waving. "Hey, why are you out here?"

"I forgot something."

"Oh, what is it? Your purse? Did you leave it in the part----"

"Hold your horses, Clarkson." She cut me, "I forgot this--"

And she kissed me.

"Thanks from taking care of me." She said. And she ran off going back inside their house.

I bit my lips.

I wish nights would be like this.

I fished my phone in my pocket and texted her good night.
