Vaughn's POV
Finally, enough was enough. I was sick of waiting around feeling guilty because of Chase. It wasn't my fault he kissed me, there was no reason for me to be upset about it.
I was angry. Angry that he made me feel this way. Angry at the distance between us that stopped me from talking about it. Angry at myself for letting him affect me in this way.
I got out of bed, grabbing a sweater and a pair of jeans and quickly running downstairs. I snatched my moms car keys off the counter and sped outside, hopping into the car. I started the car, taking off down the street, knowing my destination thanks to Snapchats new update.
I drove down the road until the house came into view. I hopped out of the car, not bothering to lock the doors behind me. I wouldn't be there long.
I marched up to the door and pounded on it, crossing my arms impatiently as I waited.
The door opened, and there stood Chase in a pair of Batman pajama pants and a black t shirt. His hair was messy and tangled on top of his head, and he stared at me in confusion.
"Vaughn? What--"
"You had no right, Chase Collins! No right at all! First you hate me, then you befriend me, then you kiss me, then you just disappear? Where were you? Did you think I'd just let you walk all over me? You said this friendship would be different, and I agree! I'm taking control and I am telling you that you are a huge asshole!"
"Vaughn!" Chase finally interrupted, raising his hands in surrender. "Shut the hell up! I may not despise you anymore, but right now your voice is giving me a migraine. Do you want to yell at me inside? The neighbours don't need to hear my problems."
I straightened my back, nodding slowly. I stepped into the house and he closed the door behind me, wiping a hand across his face.
"Go from where you left off, just try to yell less."
I blinked at him, then stared down at the ground in defeat. "Where were you?"
Chase sighed, gesturing for me to follow him into the living room. I followed hesitantly, feeling like he was avoiding the subject at hand. He sat down, so I did too.
"I was home, obviously. I was a little embarrassed to have my name posted everywhere as one of ten of the hottest guys in school, and I thought that I needed time to process everything. Is that what you wanted to hear?"
"No. I came here for a more specific answer."
"To what question?"
I felt a bubble in my throat, my palms sweating. I was nervous to hear the answer, yes, but mostly I was nervous to ask. I didn't want to seem pathetic, but I knew I needed this answer. The pain was like carrying two hundred pound weights on each shoulder, pushing me into the ground.
"Did you... regret it?" I asked shyly. Chase raised an eyebrow at me, looking out the window blankly.
"Regret what?"
"K-kissing me."
Chase thought for a moment, pulling his eyes off the window to make eye contact with me. I tried to tear my eyes away but I couldn't.
"No. Not one bit."
The corner of my lip turned upward slightly, my heart feeling warm at the reply.
"So, you aren't upset with me for it, then?" He said, a grin forming. I rolled my eyes, laughing silently.
"No, I guess I'm not."
"Good. I wouldn't mind reliving it without the public humiliation beforehand."
"Name the time and the place."
We talked for a bit longer, just enjoying each others company. We joked around, and I felt incredibly good.
As it got later, it weighed on me more that I took the car without asking. I finally had to tear myself away from the pleasant conversation.
Chase walked me back to my car, but before I got in, he kissed me goodbye. Just a quick kiss, completely unexpected. I smiled at him, pretending not to be completely melting on the inside, and hopped into the car, driving home with an unnatural sense of absolute perfection.
