Chapter 8
- 8 months earlier -
"You mind passing me the milk?" I asked as we were sitting by the breakfast table and Finn was reading the newspaper with his coffee cup pressed against his lips.
"Not now, I'm reading." he muttered as he turned the page and took another sip from his coffee.
"Finn... Do you mind passing me-"
"Which part of 'not now, I'm reading' do you not understand?" he said and looked at me with an annoyed expression for me asking again.
"Well, I'm sorry. I just can't understand how much trouble it would cause just by passing me the milk..." I argumented back, copying his tone of voice as he took his glasses off, grabbed the milk and passed it over with a rapid motion, almost slamming the carton down in front of me which caused some milk to spill onto the table.
"Now look what you've done!" I said as I got up to get the kitchen cloth from the sink, but stopped as I noticed it wasn't there.
"Guess what, you can get the cloth and wipe it away yourself." I said without turning as I heard Finn smacking the newspaper down on the table.
"Come on, you're already there!"
"Which part of 'do it yourself' do you not understand?" I copied him along with his accent as I turned around to face him.
"Charlie, this is getting ridiculous.." he sighed as he got up from his chair to get the cloth himself.
"Now where's the stupid little piece of cloth?" he asked as he looked into the sink and glanced out on the counter.
"Well, I don't know.." I said as I straightened my t-shirt and sat down again to pour the milk into my tea.
"Charlie.. I saw that." he stated with an exasperated tone as he rolled his eyes and reached his hand out for me to give it to him.
"I don't know what you're are talking about." I said as I took another sip from my tea and reached for the newspaper, but he slammed his hand on it, almost making me jump as I quickly pulled my hand back.
"It's under your t-shirt, so give me the cloth, Charlotte" He commanded through his gritted teeth, still pressing his hand down on the newspaper.
"I don't have it, Finnegan." I stated once again, plunging my eyebrows into a frown and narrowing my eyes as I looked into his dark green orbs, dead serious.
"Sometime you can be a real punch in the face, you know that?" he growled as he leaned in closer and put his other hand on the back of my chair to act more intimidating.
"Sorry?"
"You're a punch in the face." he repeated himself with confidence as I slapped my hand across his cheek and stood up to leave him standing alone in the kitchen with an indifferent expression on his face.
"And she hits like a bitch..." he mumbled to himself as he straightened himself up to gathered our used plates, triggering me to walk back to give him a real beating.
"So you've come back to give me the cloth?" he managed to get out with his cocky attitude before I swung my hand in a straight line towards his jaw, hitting him on the left side as he tumbled back and brought his hand up to the side of his face.
I stood in front of him and was heavily panting, clenching my fists as I was waiting for him to say something, but he didn't. He just looked back at me with wide eyes as he carefully touched his lip and looked at his bloody finger, breaking my heart as a thin river of blood came streaming down his chin.
"I... I'm so sorry... I didn't-"
"It's alright." he assured me and turned around to find some paper to stop the bleeding as I walked up beside him and layed a hand on his back, but got it shaken off as he was too pissed to let me touch him.
"I'm just trying to help.." I quietly tried explaining as Finn bowed over the sink to let cold water flow over his lip, ignoring me as I didn't know what to do.
"I'll get the first aid kit." I told him and jogged over to the medical cabinet on the other side of the kitchen to fetch some bandages, and rushed back.
"Here, let me see.." I tried wiping his lip with a cotton ball, which I had found in the kit, but he kept turning away.
"What do you want me to do? I'm sorry, okay!"
"... No, I'm sorry" he mumbled back, looking down as the drops of blood in the cold water disappeared down the drain.
"Look, I've been trying to tell you something all week..."
He took a deep breath,
"I've gotten a job assignment in Florida, and I didn't know how to tell you.."
"Oh... but that's great-"
"No, you see, it's for three months and you can't come with me" he looked at me as I stared into his eyes and felt my own eyes water up.
"Please don't do this, please don't..." my voice broke as I desperately tried getting him to take it back, but he just silently kept looking at me.
"I think it will do us good if we spend some time apart" he looked down into the sink again.
"Are you breaking up with me..?" He didn't answer.
"Answer you jerk!" I yelled as I slapped his back to get him to face me again, but suddenly his hand clasped against my wrist.
"Look at us! Just look how we behave towards each other! This... this is not right, Charlie... I'm going upstairs to pack my bags now, and like I said before; I think we need to spend some time apart." he finished off and let go of my wrist as he gave me a disappointed look and turned to walk upstairs.

"Thanks mate" Finn whispered as he took Jack in for a tight hug and clapped his back as we were standing by the car infront of the airport while the rain kept tapping on the roof of the red mini.
"Take care, will you?" Jack said as he held Finn by the arms and looked deep into his eyes, and smiled before letting go.
"Bye" Finn said along with a quick hug as it was my turn, but I held onto his jacket as he was about to let go.
"I love you.." I whispered into his ear as I felt him pulling away from my grip, and without looking at me, he turned to walk towards the airport entry as a tear rolled down my cheek.
"Finn!" My voice broke as I called out by the sting that went through my stomach by seeing him disappear behind the big glass doors, and ran after him.
"Charlie, wait!" Jack shouted, trying to take hold of my red raincoat.
"Finn!" I squeaked as I came through the door and looked around to spot him as he was walking along the check-ins, and turned around as he heard me calling for him.
"Finn! wait!" I cried out as I ran towards him, jumping into his arms and immediately started sobbing as his hands wrapped around me.
"It's only three months, then I'll be back and we can take things up from where left it..." he whispered as he gave me a peck on the cheek and Jack came running after me.
"Flight to Florida, US; boarding" the speakers announced as I clinched hard onto him, burying my face into his neck.
"Look, Charlie... I have to go now, I'll call you." he said as I felt Jack pulling me away from him while I was holding onto his hand as it slowly slipped away.
"Take care of her while I'm gone" Finn requested as he turned and walked away to his gate, without looking back.
