The Date

I spent what seemed like forever getting ready for this date with Ryan. I figure if I'm leaving soon and won't ever see him again, I might as well leave him with a lasting impression.

I think he's trying to be James Bond or something because all I know about this date is what little words he wrote in a note he slipped me as we were casually walking past each other.

Be ready at 6. And be prepared to get wet.

I guess that could be taken two ways but I'm going to go with the more likely option of something involving water. I slip into a sexy multicolored bikini and cover up with some shorts and a flowy crop top. I haven't been in the field in awhile so most of my bruises have gone away. I throw my hair into a cute braided up do. If we're going to be getting into water, I don't want to have to worry about my long hair getting everywhere. Last was makeup which probably took the longest.

You wouldn't expect makeup to take such a long time when you know you're going to be getting wet. Actually, most people probably wouldn't wear any makeup at all. After so many years of always being made up for field work and undercover jobs however, I feel like I NEED makeup. It's a crutch and I'm a girl. Sue me.

I'm currently in the middle of trying to put on waterproof makeup while making it seem like I'm not actually wearing any makeup at all. A girl doesn't want to look like she's trying too hard, does she? Of course not. The doorbell rings just as I'm putting on the last coat of mascara.

RYAN'S POV:

Why am I so nervous?? I've been on dates before. I've dated. She's just a girl. A normal girl. Normal? Yeah right. She is the opposite of normal. What normal girl would make you have sleepless nights just worrying about what she is doing? What normal girl could look so effortlessly beautiful? What normal girl could play with your emotions without even knowing she is playing with your emotions?

Get your shit together, Ryan, and just ring the damn doorbell. You're starting to sound like a girl!

KAYA'S POV:

As excited as I am to see where this date takes us, I am also worrying about my parents still. Of course I am. It isn't everyday you learn your parents may have faked their deaths and are working with criminals! I just have to try not to let that affect this date with the boy I've been eyeing for months!

Before over thinking things, I rush to open the door.

"Ryan, you've been staring at me for five minutes. Maybe we should get going?"

"Shit, sorry. You just look so amazing! How'd I get you to go out with me... shit, did I just say that out loud?"

I couldn't help but break out in a cheesy smile, laughing uncontrollably. I only stop when I notice Ryan's worried eyes.

"Oh, no! I wasn't laughing at you. You just really are something, you know that?"

"Something fantastic? Something sexily perfect? Something wickedly charming?"

I playfully hit his shoulder. "Hah, very funny. Let's get going on this special, secret date."

"A lake? Our date is gonna be on a lake?"

"Yeah. Well, yeah. I mean, I thought... It seemed cool..."

"This is gonna be awesome!"

"Yeah? You think so? Yeah, I thought so too!" Ryan's so cute as he is trying to regain some cool. I think his cool ship sailed a long time ago. That's okay though, cool is so overrated.
