Space Dads

Two

All that can be heard is the sound footsteps pounding against the smooth floors of the castle, sirens blaring as they made their way their lions.

"Keith! Stay behind with the kid!" Shiro ordered as the rest of the paladins huddled around them.
"Keith don't try to-" "Ok." Keith said cutting off Shiro's warning, catching him by surprise. Shiro along with the rest of the paladins looked completely shocked by Keith's response. Keith didn't say anything, he just looked at them totally oblivious while holding the kid under his arm like a sack of rocks.

Lance noticed the little boy squirming and whining under the raven haired boy's arm. He sighed as he removed the fragile creature from Keith's arms. "Keith that's not how you hold a kid." Lance told him, lifting the kid up to his face to examine its features. The small kid wasn't a newborn and looked to be around around 5 months old.
He had dark purple hair with some blue strands tangles in.
Lance looked closer to see cat like ears that mixed in with his scraggly hair. He had light purple eyes with a golden yellow ring around the iris', and small blue Altean markings under his bright eyes.

Lance stared now wide eyed at the small creature before him. The infant reached out and grabbed the tanned male's nose, giggling happily. "Keith. " Lance started. "hm?" "Do NOT show this child to Allura until I get back." Lance told him with a sense importance in his voice that Keith couldn't ignore. "Why?" Keith asked worried something might be wrong with the child.

"Take a long hard look at this kid." He said as Keith started to stare intently at the boy. The he suddenly gasp at his realization. "Ok I got it. I won't tell her." Keith stated nodding his head in understanding. "Be careful!" Keith called after Lance as he started to jog away. Keith turned and began walking back to his room. Shiro had already made it to his lion, along with Hunk and Pidge, they waited for Lance before they activated their lions.

A couple hours had passed, the paladins were finally back to the castle after a long day of defending the universe. "Good work today team," Shiro continued, "go rest up and grab some food." Shiro advised before he headed off to his room.

Pidge headed off to her own room completely exhausted.
Hunk drug himself over to his best friend and put a warm hand on his shoulder, Lance turned his attention to the big boned boy who looked ready to pass out any second. "Go check on Keith." Hunk told him before turning without another word and walking to his room.

'Quiznak I totally forgot' Lance thought to himself, as he sleepily made his way to Keith's bedroom.

Lance arrived at Keith's room and started to knock lightly not to disturb the others. He knocked once, only to be greeted with silence. Lance growing a tad bit agitated, deciding to not let it bother him, opened the door himself, too tired to care about about invading his privacy.

Lance opened the door and walked in to see the most adorable thing he's ever seen.
Keith was laying on his bed sleeping. He didn't look angry, or confused, he looked...peaceful.
Looking closer, Lance noticed the small child squirming by the bigger boy's arm giggling, as he grabbed the sleeping beauty's nose. Lance also realized that the blanket over the two boys was actually his jacket.

Lance felt his cheeks heat up a bit as he stared at the sight before him for another second.
"Ok come on Leon, Keith looks tired." Lance said, as he gathered Leon in his arms slowly as to not wake the raven haired boy. "Let's go sleep in my room." Lance told Leon who yawned in return. "See you're tired too." Lance said in a soft voice he avoided using around others.

Lance hesitantly looked down at Keith, he moved some strands of hair out of his face, before re-covering him up with the jacket.
Lance figured Keith would freak when he woke up and Leon had disappeared so he left a note.

Don't worry I took Leon since you looked pretty tired when I came back. You're welcome

Lance decided writing the note was nice enough, he stuck it to the sleeping boy's head with some tape-like material.

Lance walked out of the room, the baby laying his head on Lance's broad shoulder. He walked into the food area and searched for some old formula or something Leon could have. After a couple minutes of searching, Lance found some milk from the spacemall cow, and a bottle. Hunk and Shiro were seated at the table, they decided to eat before they went to sleep. They watched Lance as he handled the baby and made the child's bottle.

Leon was exploring on the counter, while Lance was pouring milk into the bottle trying not spill. The baby slipped and fell off the edge. Lance saw this and his sharp reflexes from training kicked in. He used his leg to catch the baby while holding the bottle.
He put the lid on the bottle before warming it up in their "Space-Microwave." Lance kicked his leg up, flinging the child in the air before catching him like it was nothing. Shiro and Hunk were extremely concerned for the kids safety, but amused at the same time.

Lance took the milk from the space microwave then shook it, setting Leon back on the counter.
He sprayed a little on his wrist. He deemed the milk 'okay', popping the bottle into Leon's mouth, before turning to leave the room when he noticed the eyes on him. Lance jumped a little before he locked eye contact with Hunk and Shiro. He decided he was too tired and left, leaving the two Paladins alone in the room with just their food, and their thoughts.
