Why!? Why did she have to come back? She was still sitting on the edge of my bed. My whole insides wanted to scream, 'Get out!'
"Well, I'm gonna let you sleep a little longer darling." She said finally leaving. Once she left, I jumped for joy. I had to get out of here before my father and mother went at it again. Ben was the first thought that came to mind. I was just about to text him when I saw my phone with one unread message from Justin.
Justin- Hey, you fell asleep as soon as it started so I brought you to your bed. Teresa showed me your room. She also dropped me off at my house so... yeah. Text you later.
He left out the part where he kissed my forehead. Or maybe it was my imagination.
Me- Hey Ben, can I come over?
Ben- Um, I thought you were sick?
Me- Feeling better with the ibuprofen that Teresa gave me.
Ben- Oh alrighty then. Mom's hosting book club today so you can't come till around 3:00.
Me- Ok, bye.
Ben- Bye.
"Damn it!" I said. I was pissed that I couldn't go over earlier. I didn't want to deal with my crabby parents today. It was also the weekend, meaning that Teresa wasn't here either to hang out with. So, here I was stuck with two babbling parents until 3:00. I was doing my homework when I heard something glass break.
"I told you that I was busy that day!" My mother shrieked.
"Don't raise your voice at me, Aileen." My dad said loudly enough for me to hear.
"I come home from my business trip, and this is how you treat me!?" Another vase broke. I tried to cover my ears with a pillow.
"We all know that you weren't on a f****** business trip!" My father was now yelling. "Don't think I didn't smell another man's cologne on you when you got home!"
"At least I'm not toying around with those slutty nurses!" I wished that the walls were soundproof. I blasted my earphones, that I had recently put in, to the song I was barely listening to. I couldn't go over to Ben's house, Teresa's day off was today. Where could I go? Bingo! I whipped out my phone. Why didn't I think about him before?
Me- Please come pick me up.
Justin- On my way.
I would have left for the public library or something like that, but my keys were not on my bedside table this morning. I know I didn't lose them, but I knew exactly where they were. With the woman I call mother. When I got my car, she told me that I wouldn't get my car keys when they were both home on the weekend. She claimed that it was 'family bonding time'. Man, I hated her.
An old Jeep pulled in the driveway and I knew that it had to be Justin. My parents were still yelling as I tried to sneak out the door. Luckily they were in the lounge room so they didn't see me pass by. I tried to open the door but it was locked from the inside.
"B*tch," I said under my breath. She locked it from the inside. I didn't think she still did that. I remember when I was little and she had locked it from the inside to keep me from leaving. I thought it was because I was little and someone could have possibly snatched me up on the streets. I guess not if she's still locking it even though I'm 16. I tried to go through the back door but it was also locked from the inside. She told me that there were locks on the inside to keep from intruders and that there were locks on the outside that only she had the voice activated passcode too. Crazy psycho mom. Ding!
It was a text from Justin.
