Dean:

Asking Dean Winchester to become your hunting mentor had gone much differently than you could have ever imagined. In fact, you had always assumed that the older Winchester brother wouldn't approve of your goal to become a hunter.

You couldn't have been more wrong.

Dean was thrilled to learn that you trusted him of all people to be your teacher, even going so far as to creating a personalized lesson plan. At the time, you had thought that making a lesson plan might be beating a dead horse; however, you kept any remarks to yourself, letting the green eyed man have his fun.

From the very beginning, Dean had made the conscious decision to train you in hands on combat and defense. He believed that being able to fight without a weapon was essential for getting out of some sticky situations.

"First rule of hunting, [Y/N]. Perception is key." Dean testified, bending at the knees and squaring his shoulders. "Perception alters out movements, guides us, provides information, and most importantly, heightens our senses." Following his lead, you crouched down towards the ground, preparing to pounce forward on the Winchester's command. "You need to learn how to perceive your enemy."

"If you're trying to sound like an infomercial, you're succeeding, Dean." you joked, balancing lightly on the balls of your feet.

With a small smirk, Dean shook his head. "Let's see if your feet can move as quickly as your mouth." he taunted teasingly, his sparkling green eyes filled with excitement. "Come and get me, [Y/N]."

Springing towards the older Winchester, you rammed your shoulder into the center of his chest. Reaching to wrap your arm around his back, you hooked your fingers into the loops of his jeans and yanked upward, hoping that you might cause him to lose his balance.

Apparently Dean had seen you coming.

Wrenching his arm with a loud groan, Dean grabbed your wrist and lurched forward, lifting you clear off of the ground. He flipped you over his head and kicked his feet outward, ensuring that you didn't have the chance to land on top of him. Grunting as your back hit the hard floor, you gazed confusedly up at the plain white ceiling.

"First rule of hunting, [Y/N]. Perception is key." the Winchester repeated, pushing up onto his feet.

"And your perception of the world around you is not necessarily the same as what is actually occurring."

Castiel:

Castiel was thoroughly surprised when you asked that he train you to properly wield an angel blade.

It's not that he felt as though you couldn't trust in his mentoring abilities; rather, as you were already an established hunter, the angelic man had foolishly made the assumption that you would never need his help when dealing with such matters.
