Protecting You On A Hunt

Sam - Sam is all about stealth and planning. His favorite thing to say before a hunt, no matter how much you tease him for it, is 'better safe than sorry'. He accounts for every little thing that could go wrong, going over contingency plans with you for everything the night before. He lays in bed with you, letting his long fingers trail through your hair while he quizzes you on what to do if you get separated, if he gets hurt, if you get hurt. This last one he has trouble saying, but he goes over it just the same. And when you're back in bed the next night and he's holding you close, he whispers into your ear while you laugh, "See? Better safe than sorry."

Dean - Dean is fierce. He loves loving someone who can take care of themselves, but he'd still rather do it for you. He is always one step ahead of you, strafing corners and putting himself in front of you during every minute of the hunt. Each noise he hears, his arm shoots out instinctively to keep you from heading forward, he doesn't even think about it anymore. He's constantly aware of where you are in the room and how many steps it would take him to get back to you if the need arises. He makes it a habit to never make it more than three. It's a part of him now, as easy and natural as breathing–he just knows where you are, which shadow is yours. And when you're patching him up later that night, telling the stubborn ass that you would have been fine even if he hadn't pushed you out of the way, he smiles cheekily through his grimace and says, "Yeah, but isn't it so much more exciting this way?"

Cas - Castiel is clever. You've seen him get out of bad situations by the skin of his teeth thanks to his quick thinking. He's a soldier, but he's also an intellectual and would always rather attempt to talk things out first rather than fight. But he has his limits, and you've come to find that his limit is you. Once an adversary threatens, approaches, or even looks at you the wrong way, it's terrifyingly clear what Cas meant when he described himself to you as a warrior of God so long ago. He'll wield his angel blade as if it were an extension of himself, moving so fast that you never even have to lift your own. He'll go to extremes, pulling that trick of carving a sigil into his own chest if need be. Yet, he softens immediately when the threat is gone, making sure you're alright. His hands flutter over you and you smile, seeing the gentleness of your angel warrior.
