Chapter 9

"What do you mean he's not lying!?" Zuko exclaimed.

"He's not lying!" Toph insisted and she sighed desperately "This is just like Jet and the brainwashing Dai Li used,"

"Toph is right. He needs more time to remember," Aang said placing his hand on Zuko's shoulder.

"We don't have more time, I have five agents in my palace, damn it! I can't trust anyone else except you," Zuko said.

Katara placed her arm on his shoulder trying to help calm down "Zuko, calm down, you can't except to solve things when you're angry like that," Katara said.

Zuko took a deep breath. She was right, again. He sighed and he said "You're right, I'm sorry, I'm losing my mind,"

Aang placed his hand on his shoulder and he said "Let's just go back in the Palace,"

They started walking away as well leaving Suki and Ty Lee on his cell. Aang stopped behind looking at Azula's cell asking "What about Azula?"

The other's stopped from walking and they looked at him with a slight surprise from the sudden question. "What about her?" Toph asked smirking.

"You're not going to let her in her cell, aren't you?" Aang asked.

"Don't let me remind you that she tried to kill all of us a couple of times," Katara said.

"I know, Katara, but she's been working for New Ozai Society for six months. She had to prove her loyalty doing terrible things so she could save Zuko's life. I think she has changed," Aang insisted.

Zuko seemed skeptic and he nodded "Okay, we'll let her out, but you'll watch over each of her moves," he said pointing to Aang who nodded in response.

Aang walked towards Azula's cell and he opened the bars. She was sleeping. It wasn't a peaceful sleep though she would mumble words and quiver a lot of time like she was watching some kind of a nightmare. He didn't want to wake her though it seemed that she had a long time to rest. He knelt in front of her pushing the forelocks from her sweated forehead and he picked her up, trying as gently as he could, not to wake her. He carried her all the way back to the Palace meeting up with his friends who were surprised to see him carrying.

They all looked at him awkwardly "Uh..." Aang tried to say and then he cleared his throat "...where's her room?" he asked whispering.

Zuko shook his head and he pointed at the other "Right this way, I'll take you," he whispered and they both started walking down the hall leaving Katara and Toph look confusedly at Aang. Well, Toph wasn't totally confused.

"Is everything okay between you two?" Toph asked looking at Katara.

Katara jumped off her place and she faltered "Y-yes of course, everything's great, w-why would you ask that?"

Toph gave her a doubtful grin "I meant between you and Zuko," she said raising an eyebrow.

"What do you mean?! Zuko and I are us just friends there's nothing else going on," Katara lied.

"There's no use trying, I can tell you're lying," Toph said grinning and placing her hands on her waist. Katara sighed desperately. She knew she couldn't hide anything from Toph. "If there is something, more, I can tell, is that both your heartbeats increase when you're together. What have you done sugar-queen?" She asked.

"Don't call me that!" Katara said.

"Stop trying to change the subject," Toph said trying to keep the laughter back.
