H*llRaiser: Hey...I heard about the accident. Sorry about your father. I'll be at the funeral.

MissUnderstood: .....Saying you're sorry doesn't bring him back. He's gone......

H*llRaiser: I know. How bad are you banged up?

MissUnderstood: Nice question Jace. But not at all. I wish it had been me....He was such a good man...The perfect father....I've got to...go.Bye

H*llRaiser: I'm always here for you.

I logged off my chat and fell back on the bed. My dad's funeral is tomorrow. I miss him so much. He was the best father you could ask for.

The funeral had a large attendance. I think over one hundred people were there. Everyone in town knew my father. He was the type of person you instantly liked. I walked up to his casket.

"Daddy I miss you so much...It's not fair. I'll do my best to make you happy. I want you to be proud of me. I promise to take care of mom and the twins. I just miss you so much. It won't ever be the same without. You taught me how to ride a bike and punch boys," I paused and wiped my tears. "Daddy why'd you have to leave? Daddy I love you. Why did you leave me like this?"

I cried. Tears streamed down my face. He was really gone. He wasn't coming back. My dad. The only man in my life who I could always depend on. He wouldn't be able to give me away at my wedding or keep away all the losers and try to scare off the good guys. He wouldn't go through the stress of prom or live to see grandchildren. It had all been because of a car crash.

My phone buzzed in my bra. I pulled it out and read it. I wrote a quick reply to my mom then went outside to the water.

There was a tension building in my muscles. I kicked off my high heels and ran down the sandy beach. It seemed like I had run for hours until I sat down tired. The sand was warm and comforting. I thought of all the times I came out here with my dad. He had loved the ocean. He had taught me to swim. He had taught me so many things. I missed him so much it hurt. I got up and wrote in the sand. When I was done a part of my dad's favourite poem was written.

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-I took the one less traveled, and that has made all the difference.-Robert Frost

I watched as the waves washed away the lines and I sat down with my head on my knees. He was taken too early. I felt two small things settle at both my sides and looked to see James and Isabella. I pulled both of them to me. I could feel their sobs. Yes they were young, but they did know dad was gone and wasn't coming back. A pair of arms wrapped behind me and I leaned into my mother's comforting embrace.

That night we all slept in my mom's bed with her. Even the dogs were up there too. I don't think anyone was more upset than my mother. She didn't sleep all night. She sand softly until we were all asleep. In the night I heard her talking on the phone. I crept to the living room and watched her from behind the couch.

"I don't care! It is too soon!" My mom looked angrier than I had ever seen her. Her fist slammed into the table as the person on the other line said something. "Look, we will talk about this further later but this information will not be shared until absolutely necessary. It's my decision. Good-bye." She hung up and I waited until she had gone back upstairs before going back to bed.

Monday morning I went to school. Everyone looked at me with sympathetic faces. I ignored them and kept walking. Half of them didn't even really know my dad. Most of them didn't know me. My phone buzzed and I whipped it out.

H*llRaiser: Don't get angry. Ignore them. Trust me.

MissUnderstood: Who are you really Jace?

H*llRaiser: A person who wants to take care of you Selena. You will see me today but in reality you will not meet me for awhile.

MissUnderstood: Please can't we meet?

H*llRaiser:....I'd be in a lot of trouble but I suppose we can. Turn around and walk into the empty English class. I will be there in a moment.

I walked into the English classroom and waited with my back to the door. I heard it open then someone stop a bit behind me. I slowly turned around. It was Jason Keller. The most popular kid at our school. I scoffed.

"Oh please! What kind of sick joke is this?" I muttered.

"Selena it's no joke. I really do care about you," he whispered.

"Which one of your friends put you up to this?" I asked.

"None of them. What can I do to convince you?"

"Like you would ever care about me," I snorted.

He grabbed me quickly and kissed my forehead. I looked up at him and glared.

"I care about you so much Selena. Please just give me a chance to be your friend. I graduate in a year. Give me that long to prove I can be your friend. Please?"

"Fine..." I replied. I really hoped this would work out.
