Carol's POV

"Bye Megan!" I called after her, as she walked out of the school with her bag over her shoulder and her books in her arms.

I turned back to Imke, Emma and Tosha. They shouted goodbye to Megan as she walked out of the school gate. We giggled at a joke Tosha told us. It was Friday and I really didn't want to stay at school longer than I absolutely had to, so I decided to go home. Unlike Megan I still lived with my parents, and they still expected me home from school straight away.

"Hey guys, text me later? I gotta run." I told them. Just as I picked up my bag all of us got a text from Megan.

"Did Megan just ask you guys to go down to the beach?" Imke asked us all, looking at the texts we'd all just received.

We all nodded. I guessed she had something waiting to surprise us if she wanted us all at the beach.

"So, are we gonna go then?" Emma asked.

"I'll phone home and see if anyone's in. I'm up for it either way." I answered as I pulled out my phone and dialled my house number.

The phone rang out and so I quickly recorded a message.

"Hi, it's me. I'm going down to the beach for a few hours with my friends. Not sure what time i'll be home but it should be before seven so i'll be back for dinner. Byee." I hung up the phone and pulled out my keys.

"I'll maybe see you guys at the beach if you decide you wanna go." I told my friends, as I raced out the door to go and get changed.

I got home and quickly unlocked the door. I went inside, dumped my bag in my room and started to reply to Megan's text.

"Yeahh, why not? Meet you at the pier in 10? Xxx" I typed.

I quickly changed into a bikini and pulled on shorts and a little vest top. I raced out of my room and grabbed my shoes from the hall. I scrambled with the keys and locked the door. I'd picked up a small clutch purse... Bad idea.

I was just passing Emma's house on the way to the beach when I heard a knock on the window. I looked to see Emma at her window. She was beckoning at me to come in. She jumped down from the window ledge and opened the door for me. We went up to her room where she was just putting one last tube of lip gloss in her bag. Megan had texted her and said I was coming so she'd waited for me and we decided to walk to the beach together. I put my little clutch purse into Emma's bag so I wouldn't have to carry it around, and we set off for the beach.
