Logan’s POV

I was about to go literally crazy. As usual, me, Kendall, James, Carlos and Dustin were in a group for the end of semester projects and as usual they were all gone and I was left to do all the work. It was sort of flattering be the “brains” of the group but I always got left to handle the school work. I really needed to be more confident and just say no.

I dropped my pencil and picked up my calculator. I typed in an equation but it just came up as an error. Obviously I was getting a little too mathematic for even the calculator to handle… Oops.

I was just about to throw my calculator at the wall when my phone vibrated and went flying off the table, along with the calculator (I got a fright). It was from Kendall.

“Hey, you comin’ down to the beach?” He’d asked. I quickly replied.

“Sorry Kendizzle but I have 5 projects to finish and only 2 more days to finish them. Maybe next weekend?”

Send.

He texted me back almost instantly.

“I’m gonna phone you… Got something to tell you.”

And straight away my phone began to vibrate again. I answered the call.

“Heyy K-Dog.” I said into the phone.

“Hey Logan. Not to be pushy or anything but I really need you to come down to the beach.” he began, but before he could finish I cut him off.

“When you say need do you really need me or do you just really desperately want me to come to the beach?” I asked.

“I really, really need you there…” I waited a few to seconds but Kendall didn’t carry on.

“Why? What’s so important?” I asked, getting slightly worried.

“Well, you know how Kevin just moved house?” he asked me.

“Yeahh, what’s this got to do with the beach?” I enquired, totally confused.

“Well, I was looking for the house today but I ended up on the wrong street, and I bumped into this girl… her name is Megan and she’s totally stunning. We were talking and I asked her to come to beach but she invited her friends because she doesn’t know me that well and I really don’t want to be the only guy, and I don’t want to be left out if she has her friends there. Plus I want to show her that she can trust me by just having fun with my friends too.” He finished his speel.

“Well okay buddy, but the deal is you have to help me with these projects when we get back…” I laughed as he instantly agreed.

“Yeah course, no problem. Thanks Logan, you’re a legend! Meet me at the pier in fifteen minutes… But don’t tell anyone else that Megan will be there.” He made me promise.

“Okay, I won’t tell anyone. Can you phone Dustin and see if he can give me a lift? I’m all alone today.” I chuckled slightly.

“Yeah sure. He’s already texted me to say he’s coming so I’ll tell him now. See ya.” He said as he hung up to arrange a lift for me.

I must have been crazy. Five projects, two days and I was going to the beach. Sounded like me, too soft to say no.

I quickly grabbed my swimming gear, phone and keys and I wrote a little note and taped it to the fridge.

“At the beach with the guy, will get my own dinner. Should be back 9pm latest.”

I left the house. There was no cars in sight. I turned round and locked the door and by the time I looked back Dustin had silently driven up outside my house and was waiting for me. Typical Dustin, always finding ways to scare me.

Just as I was heading to the car I got a text from Carlos.

“Hey Logan, you coming to the beach?” He asked.

“Yeah I am, Dustin just picked me up.” I replied.

My phone buzzed.

“Okay, I’m just picking up James then meeting Kendall at the pier. See ya then.” He answered, as Dustin pulled out and drove away. It was so hard keeping quiet about this mystery girl Kendall was bringing…
