Carol’s POV
Me and Emma walked down the road together with music blasting out of our phones. We couldn’t stop laughing as we got closer to the beach. We tried to see if Megan was at the pier, but we didn’t see her. We were quite far away but we could make out a boy with blonde hair and a few other people that we’d seen before. The blonde boy, however, was a total stranger. We looked around and noticed Megan making her way out of the toilet and over to the blonde boy.
“What on Earth?” Emma asked, as we watched Megan talking to the blonde boy.
Moments later, we could no longer see either of them and 2 more boys, a tall dark haired boy and a shorter black haired Latino boy. They were greeting the blonde, but we’d never seen any of them before.
“Who are they?” I asked with a giggle as Emma started to laugh uncontrollably. We noticed the boys walking away towards a car. The tall and the blonde both went back over to Megan as we got closer.
Megan looked up as we walked towards her. We were giggling our brains out, but it was nearly impossible to stop.
“Hey guys!” Megan greeted us as we looked from the blonde to the tall boy. The Latino passed us and went down to the sand with a chair. He put it down with about 9 others.
Megan introduced us to the boys.
“Kendall, James this is Carol and Emma.” She said pointing to each of us as she introduced us. We shook James and Kendall’s hands and turned back to Megan and winked.
I noticed Tosha behind Megan, and as I went to greet her she quickly gestured that I should say nothing. She suddenly grabbed Megan’s shoulders, and Megan screamed as she leapt into the air. Just as we managed to stop laughing we were set off again. I looked at James and noticed him quickly looking away from me. Was he checking me out?
“Hi Tosha.” I said, high-fiving her as we headed down to the chairs on the sand.
We each took a chair, and I noticed James moving his across the sand, shuffling slightly closer to me. Carlos (the Latino) soon copied, but moved closer to Tosha. He totally liked her!
We’d been sitting talking for about five minutes, but we suddenly heard two people thundering across the wooden pier.
“That’ll be Logan and Dustin…” Kendall muttered as the two boys running across he pier leapt over the railing and landed with an almost silent thud on the sand.
The two boys came over to us, and stopped when they saw me, Emma, Megan and Tosha. The shorter of the two boys rested his eyes on Emma, who blushed slightly and giggled silently. They liked each other! It was so obvious! The taller of the two boys sat down in the nearest empty chair, not attracted by any of us in the way Kendall, James, Logan and Carlos seemed to be. I wasn’t going to say anything but I knew Kendall liked Megan! We introduced ourselves and they did the same.
“Guys, I’m gonna go up and wait for Imke.” Megan stated, as she got up and left the group. We all nodded, except for Kendall who looked like a little lost puppy! It was only another sign that proved he liked her.
We watched as Megan made her way up to the pier. I turned back to everyone and we started to talk again. “So…” James said awkwardly, as we all sat. Nobody said anything. Kendall was watching Megan, completely oblivious to everything we did, and James was looking at me again. After an awkward few minutes, Megan returned with Imke beside her. Imke was totally unrecognisable, I’d never seen her looking the way she did. Dustin (the taller of the two boys who’d arrived last) sat up a little, staring at Imke as she sat down beside Megan.
Imke introduced herself and Kendall and his friends did the same. Logan (the boy who’d arrived with Dustin) suggested we go into the water for a while. The heat was scorching!
“Race you to the water!” I yelled, sprinting into the sea and throwing myself into one of the waves.
Megan was the last to the water. She ran towards us dodging a few little crabs who scattered and hid under stones. Kendall and Megan constantly stared at each other, but they eventually had to give up, as James announced a water fight. Brilliant!
We’d been throwing water over each other for almost ten minutes when Megan suddenly got out of the water. I stopped and watched as Kendall followed her. Megan sat down on a towel before rubbing her eyes and putting her head in her hands. She’d had a sore head earlier, maybe it was coming back.
Kendall and Megan talked for a few moments, and he sat down beside her as I listened in on what they were saying, the water fight still going on around me. I looked away for a second, and when I looked back Kendall’s lips were pressed against Megan’s, and he was kissing her as if there was no tomorrow. Megan and Kendall looked up. They noticed I’d been watching them and turned back to face each other as I winked at them. They kissed again. I knew they liked each other! I put my triumph to the side for a moment, finally Megan had found the guy she wanted to be with.
