Stella sat on the floor in front of me and smiled wearily. This was the last thing I needed today. Not only did the love of my life get ripped away from me, but now some girl who was apparently in love with me was here to 'make me feel better'. I closed my eyes and wished that everything would just end, but of course, this isn't a fairytale. I slowly opened them and the problem was still right there.
"What do you want, Stella?" I asked between clenched teeth. Maybe if she knew that I wasn't in the mood, she would leave me alone.
"I'm just checking in on you. You've been through a lot today, it must be horrible." She replied and placed a hand on my shoulder. "If you need anything, you know where my bunk is."
I brushed her hand off of me and cleared my throat. "I don't need anything and I honestly have no idea where your bunk is."
Stella sighed and stood up. "I'm right across from you. I know you probably think I'm trying to get in your pants, but I'm just trying to be a good friend. Seriously, I'm here for you."
"We are not friends." I mumbled under my breath as she turned to leave. I'm not sure if she heard me, but I really hope she did. Even though Nicky was most likely going to be gone forever, I wasn't about to go off with someone else as soon as she had left. She was the only one I wanted in this prison, and Stella wouldn't be able to change that.
I sat up a bit, but instantly slouched back over. Why was everything so hard? Not only for me, but for Nicky. She was down the hill completely alone. She didn't know anyone down there. Even though she brought this on herself by taking the drugs, I didn't consider it her fault. I still felt bad for her. She was a good person, even if she did make some mistakes.
My brain starting reeling like usual and I realized something. You're allowed visitors in max, right? It's not like the visits here, though, and you have to sit between glass and talk on a phone. Maybe once I got out of prison, I could visit Nicky. I smiled at my new plan, but immediately frowned. I wasn't on her visitation list, so it wouldn't work. Visitation lists are still a thing in max anyways, aren't they?
"You look like you're having a ton of fun over there." Alex said, which made me jump.
"How long have you been in here?" I asked as I turned to face her. She was sitting cross-legged on her bed, looking at me.
"Just got here, actually. How're you holding up?"
I pretended to think for a moment before sarcastically answering. "Let's see... my girlfriend is gone and Stella is already trying to flirt with me. I'm holding up just fine."
Alex's eyes widened. "She's flirting with you, too? I just saw her trying to kiss Piper. The thing that really pisses me off, though, is that Piper hardly tried pushing her away."
"Well, to be fair, I hardly pushed her away from me every time she tried kissing me. I did it, but not with much effort. I just felt... too awkward. Maybe it's the same with Piper?"
Alex just shook her head. "No, Piper has just been acting weird recently anyways. She keeps acting like I'm crazy. She's supposed to be here for me, but she's doing the complete opposite."
I scooched over on the bed and motioned for Alex to come sit with me. She nodded, getting up from her current position to come join me. When she sat down, she sighed.
"Why has Piper been acting like you're crazy?" I asked.
"A while ago I thought that my old boss was going to send someone to come and kill me, but Piper didn't believe me. Besides, she's been so involved with Stella anyways, so I doubt she really even cared."
