"Are you serious? Magagalit si Mom." I exaggerated.
"Yeah, I know. Unless, you don't tell her. As soon as I knew that you were diagnosed with amnesia, I planned to get a plane ticket back to the Philippines." He said while I'm sitting on his bed. Nakatayo sya sa harapan ko, explaining all the things he have done just bring back my memories.
"You know, I am here, willing to help you. Maybe you forgot how close we are before you got into an accident, but I know your story. And I don't want that to be erased on you permanently." He added.
"Sinabi mo sa letter, dapat mag-ingat ako sa mga taong pagkakatiwalaan ko. Am I safe with you? I bet no. Kasi hindi kita pinagkakatiwalaan. You're mysterious, you're too young to be trusted with these kind of things."
"I know you better than your mom knows you. I bet that. You've told me everything, even the smallest informations of your daily life that I, myself doesn't really care about. But those tiny little memories built you. It helped you grow as Lara for years that I've been admiring as my cousin. I love you, that's why I'm helping you."
He walked towards me and grabbed my hands. "I'm risking myself to help you. If you still don't trust me, it's okay. I'm willing to mind my own business."
----
"No, Lara. What's going on with you? Hindi ka pwedeng bumalik sa Pilipinas!" Mom stresses.
We're now at the Paisley's dining table, with I and Paisley sitting next to each other, then Carly, Aunt Carol and Uncle Jason at the other side with Mom and Dad.
"Mom, mag-aaral lang naman ako. At tutal, mag-maMarch na, malapit na lang matapos ang school year. Sayang kung ititigil ko." I insisted.
Sinabi namin kay Mom na babalik kami ng Pilipinas para tapusin ang natitirang isang buwan sa school year. Where in fact, plano naming ibalik ang memories ko.
"It's not safe." Uncle Jason said. "Jared, is this your play again?"
"Dad, no. She told me she wanna finish this school year. I'm just trying to help." Sagot ni Jared.
Weak.
Alam kong mahirap pagkatiwalaan si Jared, but it's the only way. Ipapakilala nya sakin ulit ang mundo ko. At sana maalala ko lahat.
"No." Mom insisted. "I'm not giving the keys to you, Lara. It's unsafe. Mag-isa ka lang, with Jared, and it's still unsafe cause you're both incapable of living by yourselves!"
"Unless they have someone who's older than them." Carly added while she's busy focusing in the game she's playing on her phone. "Like a chaperon or something."
"Great." Singit ni Aunt Carol. "I'll call Sally, she's our housemaid here. Filipina din sya. Right now, she's at her unit, binigyan ko kase ng one week off duty. Maybe I can tell her to join the kids."
"Ate!" Mom called. "No!"
"Steph, come on. I understand your daughter, gusto niyang makapagtapos. Besides, you and Greg are going back to the Philippines diba?" Sabi ni Aunt Carol.
