Chapter 7
Kareana's POV
We returned from exploring through the woods at 2:42.
We walked through what we now know as "The Devil's Circle". If Kayla wouldn't have assured us it was safe to walk through it, I'd be uneasy right now. But I have nothing to worry about. My hair wasn't put in the circle.
It is a humid, summer afternoon. It was probably around 80 degrees out, but the humidity made it feel close to 90.
"Does anyone want to go swimming?" Aly suggests.
It's hotter than the Sahara out. Yes, I want to go swimming. I mean, I love Aly, but sometimes she just gets on my nerves for no reason. A lot of people do.
"That's the smartest idea you've had all day," Kayla teases.
"Oh shut up," Aly says.
We stripped down into our suits. I'm wearing a black bikini with red skulls printed on it. Kayla has a blue bikini with white polka dots. Michelle has a white tankini top with the Blink-182 logo on the bottom left, along with solid black bottoms. Aly has a white and neon green striped bikini. Aaron is wearing black swim trunks with navy blue stitching. And last but not least, Cole is wearing grey swim trunks with yellow stitching.
We took turns jumping off of the dock. We made Aaron go first since he's the oldest. Then Cole and I went, next was Kayla, who was then followed by Aly and Michelle.
"Aaahhh!" Aaron screams when his head resurfaces.
"What?!" Aly, Michelle, Cole, Kayla, and I ask at once, worried something is wrong.
"...it's cold," Aaron admits.
"Don't be a pansy," Cole tells him, laughing.
We play a few rounds of chicken. I was with Cole, Aly was with Michelle, and Kayla was left with Aaron.
We took turns claiming victory. Most of the time we were just goofing off, so none of us really cared about who won.
"I need to pee," Cole announces.
"I am your pee," Aaron says.
"No wonder you smell," Kayla says.
We all snicker at her comment. She's something else, let me tell you.
The boys get out of the water, and head toward the woods. No matter how hard I try, I'll never understand the male species.
About 2 minutes after they got out, Aly notices something.
"What the..?" she asks.
I turn around to face her, and notice she's looking at the center of the lake. I follow her gaze.
There is a whirlpool running clockwise in the center of the lake. Is that even possible?
"I think we should get out," Michelle says, fear in her voice.
She's the only one who gets out.
Aly, Kayla, and I are too busy looking at the whirlpool to move.
After we have been treading water outside of the whirlpool's reach for about 30 seconds, Aly is finally able to speak.
"I have a pool in my backyard, I'll be okay," Aly told Michelle.
"Guys, this isn't the same. Something is happening. Please, get out!" Michelle begs, eyeing the giant current.
Kayla decides to get out. She looks exhausted. Aly realizes Michelle is right, and follows close behind her.
"C'mon Kay," Michelle says to me.
