The next morning I woke up and stuffed 5 outfits, hair products, and my phone in a
duffle bag. I put on some jeans and a light blue
t-shirt and went downstairs. I saw my mom and smiled, "Hey mom, bye love you." I say casually about to leave but she stops me, "You have the credit card right?"

I nod, slinging the duffle bag over my
shoulder, "Yes, I put it in my phone case. Which before you ask is in my duffle bag." She nods and hands my a plate with toast and eggs.

"This is a great thing your doing, you know that Max? She's going to have so much fun.
I'm proud of you, but don't party to much.
I don't want to get a call from the police
okay?" She says raising an eyebrow in my direction.

I snort. "How about I promise you won't get more than 1 call?" She looks at me with
her serious expression and I put my hands up
in defense.

"I'm kidding Mom, you don't have to worry."
I say and quickly finish my breakfast, then
get in my car to get Ellie for our trip. She's
only 2 doors down so I didn't drive for
even a minute, it's more like 5 seconds but
then she doesn't have to drag her stuff to
my house.

I walk up to the door and before I can knock the door swings open.

Ellie's stepdad emerges from behind the door with a small smile, "Hey Max, she's almost ready, just saying bye to her mom. Here, this
is one of her bags." He hands me a purple duffle bag and I bring it to my car. When I
turn around I see Ellie with one other duffle
bag and a black purse that raps around her shoulder. She's wearing black leggings and
a stripped tank top. I walk up to her and grab her duffel bag from her hand.

"Thanks. But why are you being a
gentleman now?" She asks and I shrug, putting it in my trunk with the other bags.

Ellie waves to her family and we start driving away. There's silence as I get on the road.
We live in Chicago and I've already planed
our trip. I see her glance at me before she speaks, "So where are we going and why for
2 weeks? Can't we just leave for a day and go
to a water park or a fair or something?" She asks me and I shake my head a little with a smile.

"Nope," I tell her and glance at her with a smirk, "We're going on a road trip and I'm
not telling where we're going."

Ellie pouts and I turn back to look at the road. "What! Oh come on please? You have to give me some idea of where we're going." She gives me a lip pout but I focus on the road so I wouldn't give in.

"Sorry I can't tell you, you'll just have to wait until we get to our first destination." I reply with a smirk. She signs and looks out the window.

I start driving to our first destination.
