The bright rays of the sun shined through the thin curtains, bringing warmth to my face.

I sat up and immediately gasped as a sharp pain rushed in my head. I looked around the room I was in. I had no idea where I was.

I called out in a raspy low voice,"hello?"

Just then, John entered the room. He looked as if he'd seen a ghost. His face was pale and his eyes stared off in the distance. He also had a black eye and a bloody lip.

"John? Where am I? I'm really confused," I questioned him,"and what happened to you? Are you okay?"

"Lou," he started in a low voice and I could barely hear him,"I tried to bring you home. But when I knocked on the door, all I heard was yelling. When someone finally opened it up, it was your dad. He started to to scream and took his anger out on me."

He pointed to the blemishes and scars on his face.

"So," he continued,"I just brought you to my house."

"That's fine for now I guess," I reassured him.

"No, it's not," he said, starting to get choked up in his words.

"Please don't cry, John."

I patted a spot on the bed, urging him to sit down with me. He slowly came over and flopped onto the bed. He laid back and rested his head on my lap.

"It's all my fault. I'm sorry, Lou. I don't think we can see each other anymore. Your family hates me now," he said, a few tears slipping down his cheeks.

"No, it's not your fault. I was the one who pressured you to bring me to the bar. I was the one who drank too much and passed out. If anyone, it was my fault," I explained, trying to calm him down by running my fingers through his hair.

"I don't even know what to do at this point. I'm such a failure at everything. I mess everything up."

"Please stop talking like that. You're going to make me cry now."

"Louisa," he sat up and stared at me,"I love you too much to see you drag along with a failure like me. I'm sorry, but I think at least we need some time apart."

He took me by the hand and held it for a second, looking me straight in the eye.

"Never forget that I love you," he started,"I will wait for you, no matter how long."

"But John I-"

"Sshh," he placed a finger over my mouth,"I already told you. Just please, listen to me. We will meet again one day."

Before I could say a word, he pulled me in for a long passionate kiss. He then pulled away.

"Your dad is waiting outside for you. Now, go on."

I wanted to stay, but something led me to leave. I didn't want to cause any more trouble than I already had, I guess.

My dad greeted me with a strong hug. He led me to his car, opened up the door, and I slipped inside.

I watched him walk up to John. I could hear their conversation, and it didn't make me feel any better.

"As it should be," my dad said to John.

"My sincerest apologies, Mr. Stevens. I just thought-"

"No, I don't want to hear it. You already agreed to break it off. I wish to see no more of you and my daughter as an item, not even as friends. You've ruined her."

Anger was bubbling up inside up me. Ruined me? How could he have ruined me?

I opened up the other car door on the opposite side and got out, running down the street. Off in the distance I could hear my dad and John calling my name, trying to stop me. But I just ignored them.

I quickly got home and ran to my room, gathering all of my things. I got all of my money and stuffed it into my handbag. I thought I was all alone until the door swung open and then slammed shut. My dad.

I decided to run to the bathroom and climb down the gutter. Surprisingly my dad hadn't heard me and I was on my way, and on my own, all alone.

I had no idea where I was going and I didn't have anywhere to stay. I started off into the unknown to start my own life, putting all that happened behind me.
