"The Pursuer"

Chapter 1
Huffing and puffing, she ran deep within the forest. She did not know where she was going to go, or where she could possibly hide. They seemed to know her every move, as if they were in her head knowing which road she was going to take. She would not give up and no matter how hard it would be, she would keep running.
She did not know what they would do with her once they finally caught her, but one thing was for certain. They wanted to take what she had come to love. They wanted her baby and would take her child by force. Absently she put her hands on her rounding stomach, while she thought these things over in her mind.
As if sensing her mother’s thoughts, the child kicked inside the womb. Looking down at the spot, she began to soothe the fetus with lulling words, as she gently rubbed her stomach.
She did not know how, or why, she had come to love the child so much, but she did. The love of her life had sacrificed his self to save the two of them. The memories alone were enough to send her into heartbreaking tears. The pain was excruciating!
The one thing that kept her going was that she had a part of him inside her. Breaking her from her thoughts, she heard leaves rustling somewhere near her. Abruptly, she began walking and started to lightly jog a few minutes later. The sound seemed like it was growing closer. If only she knew why they wanted to kill her baby!
