I wake up in my red sleeping bag and sit up. Yawning, i look around and see my friends are all still asleep in their own sleeping bags. I stand up and go in the kitchen to make pancakes for breakfast.
I put the last pancake on the stack and pick up everything we need to eat pancakes and let it on a tray. that's when I hear giggling. I guess they're up now. I think.
I walk out in the living room and see my friends watching old tapes from my past birthdays. My parents felt bad that I couldn't have a birthday every year so they let my have a birthday party on February 28th every year.
“Oh my..." I groan. I join their circle that they formed around the TV and put the tray in the center.
“This is your first birthday." Kayla says nudging my arm.

Party Guests: *singing happy birthday song*
Mom: Make a wish, honey!
Me: *nods and looks at candles* *closes eyes* *blows out candled*
Everyone: *cheers*
“So, do you. remember what you wished for?" Julie asks, pausing the video.
I nod. “I wished for summer to last longer."
“Next video!" Hannah says, popping the next DVR in.

Cousin Omar: Can I help? Please, please, please?!
Auntie Gracie: No, let her do it herself.
Me: *Blows out candles*
Family: *cheers*
“Do you remember what you wished for, then?" Dana asked.
“I have great memory." I said. “I wished for a puppy."
“Time for your third birthday!" Julie said.

Uncle Fred: Let me finish lighting them, Linn.
Me: *sits in chair*
Uncle Fred: *lights candles and steps away*
Guests: *sing birthday song*
Me: *blows out candles*
“That year, I wished for a unicorn." I laughed. “But a small one so I could fit on it." I added.
My friends laughed.
By noon, we had finished watching all 15 videos. And I made a list of what I wished for the past few years:

2: Puppy
3: Unicorn
4: Real-life Barbie and Ken dolls
5: Real Dora
6: Super powers
7: Long hair that couldn't be cut
8: A ton of bubble gum
9: 3 free trips to wherever I please
10: Best and newest clothes
11: Lots of cool shoes
12: An awesome car
13: Win a million dollars
14: To meet my favorite band
15: The best boyfriend
16: For all of my wishes to come true.
My phone vibrates, telling me to wake up. I sit up groggily and turn my alarm off.
1:42 am I read on my phone screen. I quietly get up and walk to my desk. Picking up my memory book, I walk back to my bed. I use by phone as a flashlight and open my book. Looking at the first page, I smile.
