When we reached the docks, we walked off the ship and I was greeted by Aleena.
I hugged her for a moment. "To think you came close to marrying Aries..." Aleena shook her head.
"Ivar arrived just in time." I said as I looked back at him.
Aleena looked towards Ivar as well. "Do you love him Lir?"
"Yes, yes I do." I nodded as he glanced over at me while talking with Oluf. "Where is my grandfather?"
"In the throne room." Aleena said softly.
"Thank you." I said as I made my way inside. I slowly walked to the throne room and stopped at the door.
I took in a deep breath as I closed my eyes for a moment. "Lir..."
I turned slightly to look back at Ivar making his way towards me. "Yes?"
"Relax, everything will be alright." Ivar said softly and pushed open the door.
"Lir..." My grandfather shot up quick. I walked into the room with Ivar right behind me. My grandfather walked over to me throwing his arms around me hugging me tightly. He kissed my head softly then looked to Ivar. "Thank you."
"I didn't do it for your benefit, but you're welcome." Ivar looked down slightly.
"Sit grandfather. I must tell you something."
He sat down as he looked in my eyes. "What is it?"
"Ivar and I learned something from Rune, that my mother did not tell you or anybody." I said quietly.
"I'm listening." He said curiousness.
"My mother had an affair with a man named Gymir... Rune's brother... She never told you or Midir..."
My grandfather looked down slightly. "Midir found out when her mother started showing she was with child." Ivar added. "Midir was never Lir's father."
"No... No, my daughter did not..." My grandfather shook his head.
"G-Gymir is my father..." I looked down.
Ivar placed his hand softly on my shoulder. "Rune said that Midir would keep her secret if she could accept that Gymir would be killed. While Midir told her mother this men were sent to kill Gymir behind her back."
My grandfather shook his head. I looked up at my grandfather. "Please don't hate me..." I felt tears build up in my eyes.
My grandfather stood up and came close. "You are my granddaughter... I could never hate you..." he hugged me tightly.
I hugged him back for a moment then looked up at him. "There is one more thing."
"Tell me."
"I've asked Lir to marry me." Ivar said as I stepped back next to him.
My grandfather looked at Ivar then towards me. "What are you waiting for?"
"We are getting married today." Ivar said.
My grandfather nodded and turned slightly. "Then you'll need this." he placed a ring in my hand. "Your mother would want you to have it."
I hugged my grandfather tightly. "Thank you grandfather."
"You're welcome my dear." He softly placed his hands on my cheeks as he kissed my forehead. He looked to Ivar as he faced him. "I never thought I would see the day I witness my granddaughter marrying a northman..."
"I never thought I see the day I find a woman like her who in return loves me just as much as I love her." Ivar said.
"Go get ready. I will have the servants prepare everything." My grandfather said.
Ivar and I went to get ready and soon the ceremony took place. We made vows to each other and then sealed it with a kiss. We feasted in celebration afterwards.
I sat next to Ivar at the table as everyone enjoyed the food, drinks and music. Aleena danced with Oluf until the music came to an end.
"Lir, can I dance with you before calling it a night?" My grandfather asked.
"Of course." I smiled and stood up. I danced with my grandfather for a few moments. "I am sorry for judging Ivar so quickly. I didn't know what his intent was when it came to you my dear. I see now that he truly loves you."
"It is alright grandfather. I am grateful to have him as my husband. I never thought I would ever marry."
"I'm grateful you found someone worth marrying. Unfortunately for your mother, she married the wrong man. If Gymir was anything Like Ivar, then I would have been proud that my daughter found a man to do everything to protect her and take care of her."
"I wish I could have at least met him once..."
"No, no... This is your marriage night. You shouldn't be sad. You should be enjoying the feast, drinks and music with your husband." He kissed my head then looked towards Ivar. "Go be with him dear. Best wishes for you both."
I smiled and walked over to him. Ivar looked up towards me as he grabbed my hand. "Is he leaving?"
"Yes, he wishes us both all the best." I smiled.
Ivar smiled a little then eased himself up. "I think I'm ready to call it a night myself." He whispered then kissed my neck a few times.
"Let's go then." I said softly. We let everyone leave first before going to the room.
I walked over to Ivar and kissed him passionately. I loosened his shirt as he pulled back.
He sat back on the bed as sat his crutches aside. Ivar pulled his shirt off then looked towards me. He looked down at my feet where my dress was lying.
I walked over to him and sat on his lap as I kissed him. Ivar placed his hands on my waist as our lips parted and his warm breath rolled into my mouth.
Ivar slowly slid his hands up towards my chest. I softly placed my hand on his as he placed his hands on my chest. Ivar broke our kiss and placed soft kisses along my neck.
I softly placed my hand on the back of his head as I leaned my head to the side slightly. I placed my hands on his cheeks and lifted his head to meet his eyes.
I smiled as Ivar smiled a little. I kissed him roughly as I wrapped my arms around his neck pushing onto his back.
