walking through the aisle of the shop, youngmin scans every suit available. he never knew picking out a suit could be so difficult. this years dance theme involved something retro. youngmin had planned to go for a blue suit but felt like he should stick to red, since seongwoo has already decided on wearing a cobalt blue suit.
"you really need to decide quick," donghyun sighs. his hyung, paying no attention to him whatsoever, continues to walk down the aisle.
"should i really go for the red?" youngmin asks, trying his best to persuade himself into getting the red one.
finally, he decided on the red one, after much contemplating.
"that took you long enough," donghyun grumbles.
"why does this scene sound so familiar?" youngmin points out. donghyun shrugs. he just wanted to go get his coffee but with youngmin taking ages to decide, he felt extra cranky.
the dance is next week and everyone youngmin knows is doing their last minute shopping for their outfits. everyone already asked their dates to the dance; everyone except youngmin.
"i'm going to ask her tonight!! STOP BUGGING ME," he protested.
all his friends, donghyun specifically, had been pestering him to ask sunghwa. each time they ask, he replies with "'ill ask her soon" but they all know he never does. up until that day, however, he felt like it was finally time to ask her out to the dance. finally. usually, youd see others asking their dates to the dance in such a special and extra way; something youngmin could never pull off. he wasnt going to force himself. in fact, he had already planned something extremely simple and he cant wait for her reply.

youngmin felt like his heart was going to burst. he knew it was going to be nerve-wrecking but he didnt know that it would make him feel light-headed. is he over-reacting? being dramatic?
those few seconds felt super long as he waited for sunghwa's reply patiently. holding the flowers in one hand and a box of chocolates in another, he stood infront of a surprised sunghwa. they were at oppadok, daniel's favourite chicken restaurant. youngmin had asked his dearest uni friends to suggest a romantic place for him to ask sunghwa and he suggested oppadok; for obvious reasons.
"they have really nice chicken!"
it was a nice place, youngmin had to admit. he had other plaves in mind but that restaurant was the only place that was within his budget. it was too late to save up, something he shouldve done way beforehand.
"so, do you want to my date?" he asks, nervously tapping his feet.
"i-i.. id love to,"
happiness flowed throughout youngmin's body as he jumped for joy, clutching onto the box of chocolates tightly. he finally can have a proper date to the dance. whilst he celebrated his victory, sunghwa, however, wasnt feeling the same way youngmin was.
"youngmin-sshi..."
youngmin stopped his celebration and gave his attention to sunghwa; his date.
"im already going to the dance with a friend... but we could go there together if you want! shes going to be late anyways,"
"OH ITS TOTALLY FINE!" an overly excited youngmin replies. sunghwa smiled at youngmin, thinking how someone whos the same age as her could be so adorable.
youngmin didnt really mind if she had already planned to go with her friend. he always had donghyun along every year and he understood that maybe her friend didnt have a date and decided to ask sunghwa to accompany her instead. he just wanted to appear to the dance with a date, not donghyun, and atleast have a dance with her.
"things are finally going to plan; am i not cursed anymore?"
