Kathryn wanted to wake up feeling fine, feeling refreshed and new and happy. But all she felt was grief.
She had to admit to herself that Derek Hale is dead.
Kathryn opened her eyes, breathing heavily as she dreamed of the last time she saw Derek.
She screamed, jumping out of bed as she hit the covers at the side of her, desperate to find someone to help.
She stopped, suddenly, a lump in her throat as reality set in of Derek's death. And the last thing she said to him was how much of an ass she thought he was when he kicked Isaac out.
Kathryn had one thought in her mind, and that was if she could talk to Derek right now, she'd take back everything she said. Because when she looked back on him, sure he was a broody bitch but all he ever did was protect his friends, and protect Kathryn. And he died doing so.
Unsteadily, Kathryn got out of bed, walking over to her mirror to stare at her train wreck of an appearance. She had last nights makeup, dripping down her cheeks, her hair in knots and her face emotionless.
She looked at the photos on the side of her mirror, photos of her and her mom when she was little, her and her dad, and photos of the pack. Her cousin, her uncle, Scott, Stiles and even one of Derek. Although it took Kathryn ages to talk Derek into taking a selfie with her.
Something hurt in Kathryn's gut, as if something was wrong or she was wrong.
The more she looked at the photo of Derek the more she felt the fire in her burn, as if her faerie side was telling her she was strong enough to go on.
But in fact, her faerie side was telling her she wouldn't have to go alone. She'd have Derek.
Kathryn took a long shower, cleaning her face until her skin was smooth again. She applied concealer, mascara, winged eyeliner and pink lip gloss.
She hadn't been out of bed in 48 hours, she had tons of missed calls from Stiles, Scott, Allison and Lydia.
Kathryn wore a white blouse, a black and pink floral skirt and brown leather flats.
Despite her urge to leave her room and continue with life Kathryn found herself moping around all day. That was until one phone call, the only phone call she happened to answer. It was Stiles.
"Stiles?" Kathryn answered, hearing her voice for the first time, it was rough and scratchy.
"Kathryn! Thank god. Listen, you need to come to Derek's loft, it's important" Stiles said rather urgently, Kathryn's eyes blazed red but she sighed, pushing the feeling back.
"I don't know Stiles.." Kathryn trailed off but Stiles grunted.
"Just get over here, Kat. Please" Stiles begged, hanging up. Kathryn sighed, leaning forward from the couch, Ira sitting on the other side of the room watching Kathryn intently. Kathryn winced as she felt her heart burn and that's what set her into gear.
Kathryn stood up, ignoring the cold outside and marching towards the door.
"Kathryn where are you going?" Ira shouted after her, rather demandingly.
"They need help" Kathryn sighed, her eyes tearing up. Her mind clouded, blocking out the protests of Ira and marching to her car. Kathryn sped her way into the main city, skidding into Derek's loft. She hopped out her car, eyes blazing red as she saw the twins and that chick that never wears shoes. Kathryn instantly growled, seeing the pack was a little taken aback by Kathryn appearance.
"What. Are. You. Doing. Here!" Kathryn bellowed in a deep voice, her light one layered above it, frankly scaring the hell out of the people before her.
"Negotiating" Colleen shrugged, going to walk past Kathryn, but Kathryn grabbed her arm, scorching it until Colleen screamed, her skin blistering. But Kathryn's hearing picked up a sob, her attention snapping away from Colleen. Colleen picked Kathryn up by the throat throwing her into the loft, smashing her head on a step.
"Take a look for yourself" Colleen snarled, walking away with Aiden and Ethan. Kathryn felt her forehead, feeling blood drip down but stood up regardless. Her head healed, leaving a little bit of blood on her head.
Kathryn charged up the stairs, coming to the door of the loft at the same time as Lydia, seeing water everywhere.
She saw Cora on the floor, crying over a body. Over Boyd. Kathryn gasped, slapping her hand over her mouth and beginning to cry.
She turned, hoping to find Scott or Stiles for an explanation, she saw Stiles and in front of him was Derek.
Derek Hale was alive. Kathryn couldn't find herself to be happy, sure Derek is alive but Boyd is dead. The sweet innocent boy that never harmed anybody. Never killed and never hurt.
Kathryn let out a whimper, Derek turning to her to see Kathryn in utter despair, he could smell the grief on her. Derek brushed Stiles' hand off, standing up to face Kathryn. Kathryn sobbed, running through the water to jump into Derek's arms. She wrapped her arms around his neck, burying her face in his neck. He stood speechless for a moment, saddened and full of pain, but soon embraced Kathryn, putting his arms gently around her waist and beginning to cry into her shoulder.
"It'll be okay" Kathryn whimpered into Derek's ear. The whole pack besides Cora watched Derek and Kathryn's exchange, seeing the tenderness in their relationship and the openness between them. Stiles felt kind of protective, he could see the way Derek looked at Kathryn. It was the same way Stiles gazed upon her, but he knew Kathryn loved Stiles above all. But she valued her friends beyond belief. So Stiles stepped back, letting the friends have their moment.
"No. It can't be okay" Derek protested. Kathryn clenched her eyes shut, rolling her hand through his hair for comfort as a tear dribbled down her face, her mouth making pathetic hiccups and cries.
"It has to be"
