"How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?" William grins from ear to ear as he asks me the question.
"William." I groan in annoyance.
"That doesn't answer my question, Marley Shay. I need to know the answer to these things." He chuckles at my glare.
"William, that's not a math problem. I'm here to help you with math." I argue. He rolls his eyes.
"No, you're here because I enjoy your company and needed an excuse to hang out with you." He states bluntly.
"William!"
"Yes, Marley Shay?" He smirks and I shove his shoulder.
"Get to work." I tuck a stray hair behind my ear and go back to working on my own math. William sighs and leans back on the couch, staring at me. "That's not doing math." I grumble, not looking at him.
"Oh I'm calculating a lot of different things in my head right now." William says and I hear the suggestiveness in his tone.
"William, I swear I will-"
"If, for instance, I moved my arm to stretch to a 180 degree angle..." he moves his arm to rest on my shoulders. "And then if I bent it to about 90 degrees..." he does so and I'm brought right next to his side.
"William."
"But, then I preform a nice sliding translation and suddenly-" William pulls me and I'm seated on his lap. I scramble to get off and he laughs at me.
"Don't do that!" I hiss, my voice breathy because of how the small action made my heart race.
You gotta give him some credit... that was smooth.
"I was just working on my geometry, Marley Shay." William pouts. I glare at him.
"Work on it by yourself." I say, though secretly I don't mean it. William seems to know this because he grins.
"Well, the other calculations I was making-"
"William." I warn.
"Marley Shay, you're making math not fun." William whines.
"Math wasn't fun to begin with."
"Depends... I like my partner in math. She makes it most interesting." William smiles as he begins working on his math and I gape at him. "I'd suggest you start working on your math, Marley Shay... you're not setting a good example for me. I might have to find a new tutor."
"I should hit you." I mumble as I erase my math to redo it. William doesn't say anything but I see him smile.
Once we'd finished with our work, I tried to hide the fact that my stomach was growling at me. I hadn't eaten anything all day- or most of the week for that matter- and my stomach was quite upset about that fact.
"You want something to eat?" William smiles warmly. I shake my head.
"No, thanks though." I try to smile but another round of the angry whale in my stomach belts out.
"C'mon... I could make us dinner?" William offers. I shake my head again.
"No, I'll just take some water." I strain a smile and William frowns but gets me a glass anyway. He smiles at me warmly when he sits back down next to me on the couch.
"Do you know how beautiful you are, Marley Shay?"
I feel like William knows just what to say to make my legs jelly and my stomach a fit of butterflies. It was almost annoying how easily his words affected me. My eyes closed for a minute and I sipped my water before setting the glass down and standing.
