Before the ongoing mission you and the rest of Overwatch made a plan. The plan was that you were going to sit back and cover the flanker as everyone else would stay at the frontline laying down suppressing fire. You also informed the team on how Widowmaker and Reaper like to position themselves in battle.
10:30 AM, Himalayas
Silence mostly filled the dropship as every member was occupied with there own actions.
Lucio's music was slightly audible from his headphones, there was an occasional puff from McCree's cigar, and Reinhardt's armour clinked and clanked as he made subtle movements through the duration of the flight.
Most importantly, Lena rested her head on your shoulder like usual. You did your best to comfort Lena, especially after what happened the day before.
Lena had gotten her confidence back after the previous day so you thought she should be just fine on this mission.
For this mission you packed a small compact sub-machine gun so you could be more versatile on the battlefield.
The dropship landed on the ground. Everyone began to walk out of the dropship, things seemed to be calm.
"I guess we're early." Soldier 76 muttered as he made is way into the temple.
(Think of the Nepal Sanctum)
You and the rest of the team were greeted by the spiritual omnics.
"Welcome to our sanctum. Me and my brothers and sisters will assist you in battle." Said one of the omnics.
"Thank you. Alright team lets get into position!" Winston said as everyone began to setup.
You, Lena, Genji and Winston had one of the more important jobs. You four were gonna flank around and take out the Talon frontline from behind while Soldier, McCree and everyone else lays down suppressing fire.
You and the rest of your group took positions on both sides of the temple. You and Lena on the left side, Genji and Winston on the right.
"Hey Y/N?" Lena inquired while she sat cross legged on the ground.
"Yes Lena?" You said as you took a seat next to her.
"You worked with Amélie Lacroix right?" Lena asked.
"That bitch? Yes."
Lena snickered. "Glad ya feel the same way luv!"
Your conversation with Lena was cut short as you began to hear gunfire come from the middle of the sanctum.
"Wait for me!" Lena exclaimed excitedly as she blinked out into the battle, you followed behind her.
You, Lena and the rest of the flankers made quick work of the frontline, but more and more kept flooding in.
Lena threw a pulse bomb into a large group of Talon infantrymen, "Gotcha something!" Lena proclaimed as four bodies were blasted into the air from the explosion.
While gunning down two men another Talon soldier came from behind you and put you into a choke hold. You flipped him over your back, smashing him into the ground before shooting him in his chest. "Nice one luv!" Lena yelled with enthusiasm.
Winston was surrounded by ten soldiers, that was until he embraced his true animal nature. Winston roared as his eyes sparked with electricity. Winston began swinging his arms and punching the men, launching them to the ground.
Genji dashed with way through two men, his blade severing the men. Genji then used his sword to deflect all the oncoming bullets that were being shot at him. The bullets flew back at the gunmen, resulting in them being injured. That is until he finished them off with his wakizashi.
And with that the Talon infantry was belittled.
You and the rest of the team grouped up. There were celebratory cheers within the circle of heroes.
"Alright team, we did great! Lets head home." Winston cheered.
4:25 PM, Overwatch HQ
The flight back was opposite to the one there. The team chattered about the previous battle with laughs and overall happiness.
The dropship landed and everyone walked out. The smiles on everyone's face instantly turned upside down. The HQ was destroyed. It looked like old ruins.
"What the hell happened?" Soldier said with anger.
Arguments broke out between the team. You stood back and thought of what could have happened. You came up with a quick and simple explanation.
"Talon said they were bringing their best people to the Shambali sanctum, But they didn't. Since they said that we brought our whole team, leaving the HQ vulnerable. Since we did that they came here and destroyed everything." You said loud enough to drown out everyone else's voice.
Everyone stopped talking and looked at you.
Winston sighed. "Y/N's right, we have to start from scratch. Everyone look around and see what you can find."
You and Lena went for a walk together.
You and Lena decided to go for a walk. You hand was interlocked with hers.
"I had quite a lot of memories here luv."Lena sighed as she looked down at her feet.
"I did as well Lena, especially with you."
"I love you Y/N, I hope we can get through this luv." Lena said as she stopped walking and turned to you.
You and Lena engaged in a heartfelt kiss. Your hand rested slightly under her ear, your thumb caressed her cheek. Lena wrapped her arms around your shoulders, pulling you closer to her until there was no more room left in between.
You separated your lips from Lena's. She then rested her head on your shoulder.
"I love you too Lena, we'll make it through this together. Trust me." You whispered into her ear.
Lena kept her arms wrapped around your body and you did the same with her.
