That night, Emily angled her Volvo into lynton's driveway and turned off the ignition. I now had a clear view of what people call the amazing skyline buildings of New York.

I stood there in front of the tall building helping Emily park her car into the small park space.

I watched her as she unlocked her car and slid out reaching out for her mini-mirror,she stared at her reflection in that pink vanity mirror, she frowned and then it was replaced by a pout, her vanilla colored skin glowed in that red ruched dress she wore, which stopped at mid-thigh,her honey-colored hair fell flawlessly on her shoulders, she smiled at me through the Corner of the mirror.

"Now! If you can quit checking me out,can we go inside?" Emily teased, shutting the mirror and shoving it in her pursue.

We walked towards the lobby and waited for the elevator.

I had agreed to attend this party with her boyfriend-to-be,lyntonn was hosting,he attend the same university as us and I was kind of a loner in New York,so I din't mind accompanying her.

Before either of us could ring the doorbell, the door swung open and a tall boy with gorgeous blue eyes stood in front of us,his right hand held a drink.

He came forward and hugged Emily an invited us inside,I just followed them both awkwardly.

"Whose your pretty friend?" He asked, shifting his eyes from Emily to me.

"Oh! She's my roommate..ar.." Emily began but then I cut her off

"Hi! I'm Aria,I'm a law student" I said extending my hand.

"Ooo! You've got an accent! Where are you from?" He said shaking my hand

"The sub-continent of India" I said as he lead to a modern looking living room.

"I've seen slum-dog millionaire" he said.

"You know,India isn't actually like how it's projected in the movie" I said scanning the room.

The apartment was filled to capacity, warm bodies mingled and flirted,A techno song was being played in the background from the high-profile expensive speakers.

"I'm Nathan.BY the way" the tall boy screamed in my ears.

"Nice to meet you!" I screamed back at him

" I want another drink.you two want any?" He asked us

We shook our heads and started dancing just like the rest of people.

"Hey where's lyntonn?" I asked Emily, whose eyes where set on a certain individual who was sitting in the corner if a well-stocked bar.

"There" she said, shifting her eyes back to a guy in a black V-neck tee.

He had the perfect hair, his muscles flexed as he stretched his arms for another drink. His eyes were as blue as the Pacific Ocean,it sparkled in the dim light. No wonder, she fell for that face. I mean, who wouldn't?

Emily made way towards the bar and I followed her through the crowd.

"Hey! You" she said in a flirtatious way to the guy she had been eyeing.

"Em..you made it!" He said getting off his seat to hug her,he then shifted his face and placed it near her ear and whispered something which made Emily blush. She whispered something back both off them started giggling.

How awkward is this?

"Oh! This is Aria,my roommate" Emily said like she finally realized that I was still there.

"Hey! I've heard a lot about you.. Nice to finally meet you,law student.right?"

Lyntonn said coming forward for a hug.

"You too, man" I smiled at him.

Lyntonn whispered something into Emily's ear again and he went away to get drinks for us.

"Isn't he gorgeous? " Emily squeaked.

"He is but calm it,you're acting like a kid in a candy store" I teased.

"But just look at him!" She went again.

"You're love struck!" I said making a face.

"Excuse me,I need to pee!" She said and stormed off

A bunch of boys did shorts in the corner and I couldn't help notice how hot they were,a crowd of people danced to vintage micheal Jackson. I had never seen someone dance that well, a few couples were in sitting on the couch and acting all lovey-dovey.

Gross much?

I was having my second drink, when my phone buzzed.I swiped the screen without paying attention to the name.

"ARIA?" I heard the speaker scream in a threatening tone.

the voice was familiar and he/she pronounced my name without the accent,so I knew it was someone from home.

Home as in India.

"Hello?" I echoed.

*beep* *beep*

That bastard hung up on me.

I was somehow too drunk to care, I shoved it back into my red clutch and went back to drinking.

"Hii!" A voice came from behind.

I turned around to notice a short girl in black leather dress in front of me,she looked like she was from the middle-east Asia.

I gave her a small smile.

"I'm preethi. I don't think you remember me,but we went to school together ,batch of '04?" She said at once.

"Oh! Right! Preethi rajpal? Physics major,oh my god it's been so f**king long!what are you doing here?" I said so loudly that the speakers felt threatened.

"Going cliché! Finished my engineering, here to get an MBA! I go to Columbia. What about you? Last time I spoke to you were preparing for your LSAT exams, here to do your law,I presume" she said taking one huge sip of her drink.

"Yeah.New York university law school,Columbia huh? Did you Naveed 's here goes to Columbia as well" I asked her while she orders on more drink.

"Actually! We're roommates! He talks a lot about you,you know?"

"Really? Wow. He din't mention that" I said with surprise.

"He's here actually! The guy who owns this place is in our class!"

"Doesn't he go to NYU?"

"That's his roommate"

"Oh.wait,Naveed's here?"

"Yeah.look I have to go,see you around "

"Okay.bye"

Oh my freaking god. Naveed's here I need to get out of here. Even though Naveed's been very kind to me,these past days,I still don't trust him. He has to have an alternate motive for his sudden kindness,It's Naveed khan we're talking about, the guy who made my life a living hell.

Emily came back with tequila shots.

"Hey there! Why do you look so tensed?" She said lifting my face up with her forefinger."here have one of these!"

She gave me a strong dose of whatever was there in that tequila glass and before I knew it I was dancing I'm the dance floor and abusing phirangs in Hindi, see this is why I don't drink!

I reached out to my phone it text Emily but then the sight of 69 missed calls from numbers which I immediately recognized where from India made me anxious, cold shiver passed down my spine.

Something was wrong,my parents wouldn't spend so much on international call for no reason.

This is not good.
