Chapter Twenty-One:
The pain duplicates with each breath that I take. Why? Why must I go into labour now? Couldn’t my baby wait another day? But as the pain increases it’s obvious that my baby is determined to arrive today and no other day.
"You seem to be in pain Lauren" Mark states as he walks towards me similar to like a lion would stalk its prey.
"Maybe, because I am" I snarl at him through gritted teeth as I slowly sink to the ground. Why the hell hasn’t Kieran came back to find me yet? I wonder to myself as the pain gets incredibly unbearable. "Too bad Kieran isn't here to help you, huh?" He observes as he twirls a set of keys around his fingers, the keys to the church door to be exact.
"How the hell did you manage to get those?" I screech as I painfully stand myself up, although I have to lean against the wall for support as well as grit my teeth to bare the pain.
"You should have learnt my sneaky ways by now, just like I have learnt yours. I mean I must applause you for putting cameras all around your house, so much security for one small house“He states, making me wonder how on earth he knows about that if we have cameras all around our house that we review every day. Unless, unless he has other people working for him that we are oblivious too.
“Bingo“He declares making me break away from my thoughts. “What? “ I snap at him in confusion. “You like thinking aloud don’t you sweetheart? “ He says making me feel really stupid. “Indeed you are, I’m surprised it took you so long to realise“He says. “I said that out loud didn’t I?“ I say although it comes out as more of a question rather than a statement. “You sure did“ He says but before I can answer him a piercing scream escapes my mouth as I feel a contraction coming.
“FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WHERE IS KIERAN?!“ I scream as I fall back onto the ground and if just on cue as soon as I scream that a loud pounding comes from the door with Kieran behind it shouting. “Lauren? Are you okay? Why is the door locked?“
“KIERAN HELP – “ But before I can finish my sentence, Mark’s hand finds its way to my mouth silencing me from calling out for help. “If you want to stay alive I suggest you shut up“ He snarls with a evil grin on his face. “Now, now Mark let’s not play with our enemy“ I hear a voice say. A voice that deserves to be silenced for all eternity. Cody’s voice.
“YOU MURDERER!“ I scream at him as another contraction passes through my body. “Two people that is all I killed“ He states proudly as if he just won an Oscar. “Three“I correct him. “What?“ He snaps. “Three, you killed three people once you include Amanda’s miscarried baby, you know the baby that was suppose to be Sebastian’s twin“ I snap, whilst shooting murderous daggers at him. “Looks like I have a fan Mark, she’s keeping track of my murdering“ He announces proudly to Mark, who returns his announcement with a smug look. But their conversation is shortly lived as the church door comes crashing down off of its hinges. As the culprits Kieran, Peter and Lucas stand what was once outside of the door looking panicked. “STEP AWAY FROM HER!“ Kieran shouts as he marches inside the church and towards Mark, although he immediately stops when he hears me cry out in pain. “Lauren, what’s wrong?“ He quickly asks as he knees down beside me and inspects me for any injuries. “My waters broke“I cry out as my fourth contraction comes and passes even more painful than the last. “Lucas call an ambulance!“ Kieran demands as he places his suit jacket on me to keep me warm in the mean time, before returning his attention back to Mark and Cody. “What are you doing here?“ He shouts at them. “Paying my respects to my victims“ Cody reasons back as if it is completely acceptable, “Ah, Peter nice to see you my friend“ he adds once he acknowledges him but Peter looks at him full of hatred and disgust. “You know fairly well that I am not your friend, never were and never will be“Peter snarls back as he steps forwards toward Cody.
