Chapter 11
“You ignorant, incompetent, brainless imbeciles!” Herodian Fallborn shouted at Echo and the others. “How could you let them get away?!?”
“Mind yourself, Mr. Fallborn!” Professor McGonagall admonished.
“No!” Fallborn declared, pointing a finger at the group. “These ridiculous milquetoasts have the collective brain spans of a mountain troll! This is all their fault!”
“You need to calm down and watch the way you speak to us, sir,” Teller said to Fallborn.
Fallborn paused, his anger apparent on his face. “Melvin Teller? I should have known you were falling in with the other worthless members of this motley crew.”
Rouge chuckled for a second. “Melvin?” he asked. “Your name is Melvin?”
Teller turned to Rouge and scowled. “Not another word!” he warned Rouge. “What is a piece of troll dung like you doing here?”
“Trying to do what only professionals are supposed to do,” Fallborn said, “What you neophytes should stop getting in the way of: Putting bad people in Black Rock or Azkaban or Nurmengard. How about you idiots stop getting in my way?”
“Watch your tongue, son,” Teller grunted, “Unless you want to have it stuck permanently to the roof of your mouth!”
“Please,” Fallborn laughed, “You’re as threatening as a Puffskein.”
Teller clenched his fists. Fallborn was smirking. Suddenly Teller and Fallborn both drew their wands quickly, aiming them at each other with angered expressions on their face.
“Good Godric!” McGonagall shouted. She raised her wand and casted a Shield Charm on both men. Rain Fox and Dev held Teller back from attacking Fallborn, who Echo stood in front of with her own wand drawn.
“What is your deal?” Echo asked. “We’re here on behalf of the British Ministry! These kids didn’t do anything wrong!”
“First off,” Fallborn began, “Their flaunting of Underage Magic will cease. Second, Spirit Sandpiper’s father is a high-ranking Six Nations Medicine Man. The last thing he wants is his daughter put in danger by the likes of you and your fellow degenerates. Third, I’m only doing what I was assigned to do before.”
“Before?” Dan asked. “What do you mean?”
“I was the one who informed the parents of Feather Edwards, Lucas Lattimer, Moonstone Ackers, and Jace Jefferson about the dangers your crew would be to their children abroad. Why do you think they didn’t come back after the break? For their safety we kept them at home by convincing their parents that these meddling fools were dangerous and unpredictable. It will only be a matter of time before the parents of Sam Meadows, Luminara Joywell, Nymphara Dye, Bria Brightwater, and Ignatia Jones, along with your parents, Mr. Titan, will bring you all home and away from the tainted and unlucky hands of these foolish, inexperienced neophytes and their feeble attempts at trying to do actual good in this world.”
Suddenly Dan Titan, who had been rather unassuming beforehand, lunged forward and punched Herodian Fallborn in the face, to everyone’s shock and surprise.
“Control yourself, Mr. Titan!” Professor McGonagall shouted. Rouge and Sherman grabbed Dan as he was about to strike Fallborn again.
“Let me at him!” Dan shouted. “You could go suck a dragon egg!”
