Chapter 23

Star, Dan, Sam, and Bria stood with wide smiles and eyes fixed on the famous and celebrated witches and wizards from a decade ago. They were dressed nicely, not too fanciful (except for Hermione, who wore a floral dress), but all wore smiles and greeted people. Professor McGonagall came out of the castle and walked briskly and happily to the students. She hugged Harry, Ron, and Hermione first, then the others, greeting each in kind.

As the students looked on and watched, others arrived. Neither Sam nor Dan nor Star knew who they were but Bria filled them in on their names.

“Oh!” Bria whispered excitedly, “That’s Dean Thomas!” She pointed to a tall, handsome, lean man with dark, curly hair, smooth skin, and a devious grin. “And that’s Seamus Finnegan with him!” She pointed to a short, smiling man with short dark hair and wearing a Gryffindor tie on a polo shirt. “Oh! Bless my bones! That’s George Weasley! He owns Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes in Diagon Alley! That must be his wife! And that’s Oliver Wood and his wife Katie!”

“Does she know all these people?” Dan whispered to Sam.

     “Apparently,” Sam answered quietly.

“Jiminiy Christmas!” Bria shouted, “There’s Kingsley Shacklebolt, the Minister of Magic!”

“Dude,” Star remarked, “Everyone’s here, yikes!”

A few others arrived through the entrance. Some were the families and friends of the staff and the arriving guests. Dan commented on how many Weasleys there appeared to be. The Hogwarts Poltergeist, Peeves, flew around the air and cheered and whooped as the guests shook hands and hugged the staff, students, and one another.

“Star!” Harry Potter called out. “Star Saoirse!”

“Umm,” Dan said, “Did Harry Potter just call your name?”

“I think so,” Star said, “Quick, Sam, pinch me and make sure I didn’t dream that.”

“It ain’t no dream, vampire,” Sam replied, “He’s comin’ our way!”

“YOU know Harry Potter?” Bria said to her, “Harry Potter knows YOU?”

“Why are you so surprised at that?” Star asked Bria, “I am the coolest person you know, after all!”

Bria shook her head and could not keep herself from smiling widely as Harry approached them. A young boy followed behind him, a big grin on his face.

“Hello!” Harry said to the four students.

     “Howdy!” Sam greeted him.

     “Hey,” Dan said plainly.

“Hah!” Bria shouted. She swooned for a second, then promptly fell over.

“Is she alright?” the boy next to Harry asked.

Dan and Sam helped Bria to her feet.

“I think she fainted,” Sam said.

“Sorry about my friend,” Star apologized to Harry.

“Oh, don’t worry,” Harry said, “It’s not the first time that’s happened. Really annoying, actually.”

“Who’s this?” Star asked of the boy.

“This is someone that wanted to meet you in person, Ms. Star,” Harry Potter said, “This is my Godson, Teddy Lupin. Teddy, this is the one I was telling you about.”
