~Peter's POV~

"What an ass" I say as I pace back and fourth in my apartment. "Oh Peter honey will you calm down" says May. "I can't, she doesn't deserve that. I can't just sit back and do nothing." "Well you're going to have to Peter. Give her time to tell you herself." My eyes scan her face as I stand still.

"I know you care about her but she needs to tell you." "Can't I just tell the police" I ask. "With what evidence Peter" she asks as she stands and grabs my shoulders. "It's great that you want to help, but you have no proof." I look down at my feet while crossing my arms over my chest.

May gently grabs my chin making me look at her. "Keep your chin up kiddo, things will work out." "Thanks May" I say pulling her into a hug. Once she leaves I pull out my phone to call Sage.

Sage: "hello?"
Me: "hey Sage, it's Peter. Sorry to be calling so late. I actually didn't realize how late it is.
Sage: "oh it's okay Peter."
I hear her giggle and know she is smiling on the other end.
Me: "hey listen I thought maybe you would like to meet at the park tomorrow morning. It's the weekend and you can bring Luka."
Sage: "okay sounds like fun, meet me at the bench by the fountain."
Me: "sweet I'll see you then."
Sage: "goodnight Peter."

I don't even get the chance to say goodnight before the goes dead. God I just hope she and Luka are okay. Both of them are just too kind. These are the thoughts that roam through my head as I toss and turn. One thing if for sure, I'm not going to get much sleep tonight.

~Park~

There she was, right where she said she would be. Luka sat proud next to her. God she looked great, she wore a gray beanie with white sunglasses, a scarf along with a sweatshirt jeans and a pair of Vans. "Morning beautiful" I say walking up to her. I chuckle a little when I see her blush. "Good morning Peter" she says as she looks up at me.

There is this cold wet feeling on my hand. I look down to see Luka sniffing me. "Good morning to you too boy" I say giving him a pat on his head. "I brought you something." I pull out a tennis ball and show it to him. His ears perk up and his tail wags. "Are you trying to sweet talk my dog" she says as she laughs.

"Maybe" I say with a laugh. She unhooks his leash and I throw the ball as far as I can. Luka sprints of like a speeding bullet after it. "Well do you want to grab a drink and go for a walk?" "Sure I think there is a coffee shack over there" I say.

I help her up and walk over to the shack. We are standing in line when I remember that we forgot someone. "Oh my god we forgot Luka! He might be lost" I say as I panic. At this rate I have better chances of getting whiplash then finding this dog. "Peter relax" she says holding my arm.

"It's ok he is well trained, watch." Sage cups her hands around her mouth and howls. I look around and suddenly I see a black and white figure running in our direction, not slowing down. BAM! I'm on the ground with a giant husky sitting on my chest.

"Oh my god Peter are you okay?" Sage's face comes into view, blocking the bright sun from my eyes. Her face wears a beautiful white smile as I nod and she helps me up. "Next" shouts the person behind the counter. Sage helps me walk steadily up as I rub the back of my head. "Hi can I get one large coffee, black please."

I look over to her as she looks at the employee. "Can I get a large hot chocolate please?" "Coming right up." As I hand him the money I look at her. "I thought you would get coffee." "No, honestly I don't even like coffee that's why I get hot chocolate." I put my hands up in defeat and laugh. Once we have our drinks see start walking.

We spend forever walking and talking. We talk about everything. Eventually we take a seat at another bench. The both of us keep talking but there was something I wanted to answer. "Sage why are you wearing so many layers? It's nice out here." "Oh umm because I'm um cold."

"Sage...I saw the bruises. It was chance wasn't it" I say admitting to knowing. She just looks and slowly removes her sunglasses, revealing a black eye. I can feel my jaw clench and my grip tighten on my cup.

"He was upset that I had you over yesterday." Then she removes her scarf, her beautiful skin is tattered by dark purple and blue bruises. Seeing them makes me feel like I can't breath. He got mad and took it out on her because of me. "He doesn't know I'm here right now, he actually thinks I'm in class."

"Why don't you just leave" I ask. "Its not that simple Peter. I wish it was but it never is and it never will be." I look down, if only she knew how much better I would treat her.
