As we drove quickly down the gravely road, we slowed down a bit. I looked over at Hazel and we both laughed, extremely out of breath. Though our moment of laughter was interrupted by a loud thud from the back of the car. I looked back and saw the demon running close behind, throwing rocks at the vehicle. I cursed under my breath.

"I'm about to do something stupid. You're just gonna have to deal with it" I said, unbuckling my seat-belt.

"What are you doing?!"

"Just drive I'll be back... hopefully". I went through the already opened window and struggled, but managed, to climb on top of the car. The demon looked at me through his evil, dead eyes.

"So, you like good, o'l fashion on top of the car fights, eh?" he smiled and jumped on top of the car with me. I stepped back a bit. That was unexpected, I thought. He was about a foot taller than me. Intimidating, but I still had an idea. I punched him as hard as I could in the stomach, hoping he would bend down and I could punch his head next. But, of course, he didn't budge. All he did was smirked at me and picked me up by the back of my neck. "You think you can fight me? How cute." He attempted to throw me off of the car but I held onto the rim of the open window. Hazel looked at me.

"Are you insane?"

"Yeah sorta" I replied "Nice to see you to, by the way". I pulled myself up again and, to my benefit, he was turned away. I grabbed a hold of his ankle and tugged it backward, which made him slip and fall, holding on to the window next me. Of course. He reached over for the switch to pull my window up, but I quickly tugged on his door handle and he went flying in the other direction. I remember Hazel said this was an old car.  I peered my head in through the open door. "Sorry for this in advance"

"Wait w-"

I kicked the rusted and chipped door as hard as I could a couple of times and it broke off sideways, grinding against the hard road. The demon fell off and went tumbling down the rocky borders of the street. I swung myself back in and rolled the windows up, then grabbed the almost-broken door and adjusted it to balance in the door frame.

"You. You broke my door"

"It was only a matter of time it may as well break off to save our lives. Besides, if you balance it right it's fine"

"Yeah, no. I'm driving it up to a repair shop". Even though seeming upset about the car, a smile tugged at the edge of her lips and I laughed quietly while looking out the sort of broken window.

We got to the repair shop and, after several hours, the door was fixed. At least as fixed as it could be. We drove to a nearby hotel and stayed there for the night. I basically collapsed into my bed and honestly, if it's springy mattress decided to swallow me forever, I would just accept my fate. Hazel made some coffee and then set it on her nightstand as she lounged on her bed. She switched on the telly and we both watched the images flicker on the screen.

After a couple moments of silence she said, "You're insane... but also kinda smart"

"I've been told both, but mainly the insane part" I said, followed by a laugh. That's all we said just before we both nodded off to sleep.
