Valdís sat next to her father, Captain America, in the sleek car that sped down the highway. "How's school?" Steve asked.
Valdís stared out the window, ignoring her father like a bratty teen. "Val?" He called.
"How was Berlin?" Valdís snapped. She was still angry that her father never allowed her to join him to fight with him. She was a changed girl. She was no longer fighting for HYDRA, she had full control of her powers, for she hadn't had an incident since she was a prisoner to HYDRA.
Steve sighed. "I didn't want you to get hurt. I don't want you or your sister to get hurt." He admitted.
"You need to get over yourself." Valdís spat, taking Steve aback.
"Liv and I aren't simple mortal like you want us to be. We were born to use our powers... and soon enough we're going to have to use them. Living in fear that you'll lose us like you lost our mother will get you nowhere." Valdís huffed.
Steve sunk into his seat a little bit. He knew suppressing the most powerful twins in the world was a recipe for disaster, but he truly didn't want to lose the last thing he had as a family. "I'll talk to Tony, see if he'll make you a suit... one that won't burn off when you light yourself on fire..." Steve gave in.
Valdís' face lit up with excitement. "Really?" She asked for assurance from her father.
Steve sighed and nodded. "I'll see if he can get it to you by the end of the week, before the first week of school is over. Then, we'll talk about doing anything else." Steve informed. He hated that he was giving into her demands, but knew that at some point, he'd have to let go of his children and let them live out their full potential.
"Thank you, thank you, dad!" Valdís threw her arms around her father and squeezed him, feeling eternally grateful for making her feel less like the prisoner she had been her entire life.

It was finally Friday, the day Valdís was to get her suit from Tony. Valdís mindlessly sat in her Physics class as she thought about the exciting possibilities that could come with her new suit. She could finally fight again, and put her combat skills back into use. She could enhance and better control her powers—
"Valdís!" The teacher called for Val's attention, breaking her away from her own dreaming.
Valdís scrambled to refocus and wiped away a bit of drool from her lip. "Uh... I— Uh," She diverted her eyes to the board and attempted to decipher what the teacher was asking her, she hastily figured it out by the graph on the board and answered: "Mass cancels out, therefore the equation is simply: gravity times sine." Valdís spoke quickly.
"Right... See, Flash? Being the fastest isn't always the best if you are wrong." The teacher reminded the fellow student in the class.
The boy, Flash, shot Valdís a deadly glare. A loud chuckle erupted into the classroom and Val shot her head over and found out it came from Peter Parker. Flash moved his glare onto Peter and whispered: "You're dead."
Valdís flushed a bit. She had always found Peter such a cute boy. Although he was a bit awkward and shy, she loved that he was so different from her. He contrasted her in almost every single way. She was bold. He was more reserved. She was opinionated. He was quiet. She was social. He was awkward.

Valdís sat, exhausted, in Academic Decathlon. She was eager to leave school, ready to get her suit, however, she had to stay and practice with the Decathlon team before the upcoming national competition. "Let's move to the next question: What is the heaviest naturally occurring element?" Liz read out the question from the card.
A fellow team member rang his before, noting that he was going to answer. "Hydrogen's the lightest. That's not the question... OK." He stuttered.
Val scoffed. Another team member, named Abraham, rang his bell. "Uranium." He shouted.
"That's correct—" Liz began.
"Wrong!" Val interjected. Everyone looked at her with confusion spread across their faces.
Val huffed. "It's Uru, found in Asgard. The Mjolnir is made out of it." Val corrected.
Liz ran a hand through her long hair. "We're talking about elements on planet earth." Liz commented.
"Elements are universal. Try again, sweetie." Valdís rang her bell, as if she had just shut down a case. Liz continued the practice session until someone announced an unrelated piece of information.
"Peter's not going to Washington." One student told.
Another colleague began to shake her head. "No, no, no, no."
"Really? Right before nationals?" Liz whined.
Michelle spoke up. "You already quit marching band and robotics lab," everyone looked over at her with worried eyes, "I'm not obsessed with him, I'm just very observant."
Liz turned her head to find Flash. "Flash, you're in for Peter." Liz told.
"Oof, I don't know. I gotta check my calendar first. I got a hot date with Black Widow coming up." Flash's sarcasm did need some work.
Val rolled her eyes. "Fake news. Black Widow doesn't date flop DJ's with bad sarcasm." Val snarked then rang the bell once again.
"What did I tell you about using the bell for comedic purposes? This is the third time today—" Mr. Harrington, the Academic Decathlon sponsor, lectured.
