Chapter 5
Last Period of the Day, History

So she's lasagna girl. I thought about how I saw her at the window across the street the other day. I had my head down, the left side of my face was on top of the book as I looked over at one particular person across the room. She paid attention to the boring lecture the Mrs. Boring Pants was teaching. She kept her eyes on the board but kept writing on her notebook. Chance was right. She really was nothing like her.

"Mr. Santiago, the answer please?" Mrs. I'm Going to Bore You to Death asked, slapping her desk with a ruler.

She finally turned her head and met my eyes. I didn't look away, which caught her by surprise. She's probably wondering why I'm looking at her.

"What was the question again? I spaced out caused you were too boring." I said bluntly. I kept my head down on the table, keeping my eyes on her. Look away you creep, I scolded myself. I would if I could.

Everyone started laughing except for Ella. She just looked at me with a hint of irritation and spite.

"In 1979 which English art historian was exposed as a one-time Soviet Spy and stripped of his knighthood?"

Ella started skimming through her notes when I said, "That dude. Anthony Blunt," in a bored tone.

Everyone looked at the textbook, some looked at their notes. Even the teacher had to double check if my answer was correct.

"That's uh correct. Carrying on." She said, turning back to face the board and write down more boring things.

Ella looked at me with an unreadable look before looking away. That's right, I may be a dick but I'm a smart dick. And there's a difference.

Okay he's a smart dick. Still, smart or not, a dick is a dick. Even I had to look back at my notes, but he just answered it right away when it didn't even seem like he was paying attention. All he did was look at me the entire period.

It's been about 4 days since we even spoke or said one word to each other after the little mayhem at the Cave on Monday. I'm honestly just waiting for an apology, but I think I'm just wasting my time. Like he would ever apologize to you, you're not even friends.

The bell rang and I packed my things. I was going to meet Grace and Ricky by the parking lot and go home together. They're sleeping over since there's no school on Friday. It was teacher's meeting day tomorrow. I took out my earphones and shoved my iPod hurriedly in the back pocket of my bag. What is this, 2001? Don't judge me.

I quickly stood up and basically ran out the door. I'm so excited! My very first sleepover! Yes, my very first official sleepover. Let's just say, I had a very strict childhood.

"Ella, wait!"

I turned around after hearing someone call my name. He ran up to me leaving his friend, and twin behind.

"Are you going to the baseball game tomorrow?" Chance asked casually. These past 4 days, we've actually grew into really good friends so we're pretty comfortable around each other.

I nodded my head and said, "Yup I'm going with Grace and Ricky, why?" I adjusted the straps of my bag on my shoulder.

"We got these really cool seats, perfect view. If you guys want you can join us." He said smiling sweetly.
