Chapter 10
Lunch, Palm Springs High Café
11:51 am | Ella

I literally could eat a whole entire cow. I haven't eaten anything since last night so you can only imagine how fast I sprinted to the cafeteria as soon as the bell rang. I pushed and shoved people out of my way, not bothering to look back and apologize. My stomach has been hurting since this morning and I'm pretty sure it's because I'm so hungry. I need food, and I need it now!

As I moved closer to the front of the line, I happen to catch something from my peripheral vision. A tall, muscular figure heading towards my direction.

"Back of the line, pal." I glared once he was next to me. He seemed surprise by my sudden change in attitude, even I found it surprising how aggressive and cranky I've been acting. Must be the pre-period symptoms.

He raised his hands in the air and backed away a few steps. He chuckled lightly and flashed me a heart-warming and contagious smile.

"Someone's cranky." He teased. I took a deep breath and grabbed a cup of of mixed fruits and placed it on my tray.

"Sorry, I'm just really, really, really, really hungry right now." I explained. Finally reaching the cashier, I reached in my bag to look for some dollar bills when Chance handed a 5 dollar bill to the cashier.

"What do you mean?" He asked, sitting down across from me.

"Making lunch ladies fall in love with your ridiculously attractive genes."

"It's more of a past time than a hobby." He said jokingly. But suddenly his quirky smile turned serious.

"What?" I asked, taking a bite of the cold slice of pizza.

"Did you just call me attractive?" He said, perking up his elbows on the table as he batted his eyelashes.

I practically stared at him with my mouth open in disbelief. I couldn't help but remember Chase and how he acted when I accidentally called him hot. They reacted differently, but yet so similar.

Chance had made his way to sit next to me, just so he could try and make me say that he was attractive one more time. I ignored him and devoured my cold slice of pizza. When he didn't stop talking and I could no longer tolerate him, I shoved the remaining slice in his mouth in an attempt to shut him up. It worked. For about a minute before he resumed talking.

"Chance!" I yelled in frustration.

"What?" He asked innocently.

"Can I please eat in silence?" I begged.

"Say it one more time and I'll leave you alone." He smiled playfully.

I sighed and groaned in defeat. "Fine, you're attractive. Happy?" I said glaring at him.

It's not like he isn't attractive, because he is. Like really attractive. Like Hollywood actor or model kind of attractive. But I didn't want to say it because I didn't want--
