I heard the door slam from downstairs. This is it. It's finally time.
I jumped off of my bed, and slowly opened my bedroom door. I peered down the stairs, and sure enough, Davie, Karen, Commander, Bruce and Carson were all standing in the doorway, with my brother. That set me off.
I reached for my gun in my belt, and I ran down the stairs at full speed. When I reached the bottom, I clicked the bullet into place and aimed it at Logan's captors. They all looked stunned at my sudden appearance.
"Aubrey..." Carson said, nervously.
"Step away from my brother." I said, sternly. They all looked at each other, but slowly released him. He ran to my mom, and stood in front of her.
Suddenly, they all took out guns and aimed them at me. Well, that failed.
"Drop the gun, Coleson." Karen said.
"I thought we were a team!" I shouted.
"Well, you thought wrong." Davie said. What? Davie too? Those two-faced little...
"I SAID DROP THE GUN!" Carson shouted, snapping me out of my thoughts. I slowly set my gun on the ground.
"Now back away from it." Commander said. I did as I was told.
"Sit." Carson said, motioning for a chair.
"Thank you. I think I WILL have a seat." I said, smiling sweetly at him. I laughed a little on the inside. Good one, Coleson.
"Now you two. Sit in the living room and don't come out." Commander said, pointing to my mom and my brother. They gave me one last look, and then entered the living room.
"What do you want?" I hissed, once they were gone.
"We're each here for different reasons." Davie stated, blankly.
"Okay... And those reasons are...?" I said, motioning for him to continue.
"I'll start. You're always causing trouble at the agency. You can't follow orders, either. You create ginormous messes and then you expect someone else to clean them up. That gets me A LOT of disrespect!" Commander spat. "So, if I get rid of you, there will be no more messes or mischief. Also, you're a threat to my position. In a few years, you'd be old enough to be the new commander. You could take my job. I haven't been in action for a few years now, but I'm still not letting you take this job away from me." He concluded. Wow. I was a "threat to his job" and a "trouble maker" so he's going to kill me. Great. Makes perfect sense.
"Okay. Whatever." I said, and rolled my eyes. I folded my arms across my chest. That didn't bother me at all. Commander looked angry because I wasn't annoyed, but whatevs. Commander has some SERIOUS issues. He should really see a therapist.
"I'm here because you never respected me as a partner. You always left me out, and did all of the work for yourself." Davie said, and gave me an angry look.
"That's it?" I said. After Commander's long list, I would've expected a full out speech from Davie.
"Yes. That's it." Davie said, gun pointed at my face.
"I'm here because you always got all the glory. All of the praise. You were little miss perfect and you KNEW it. You acted like you never made mistakes. And you didn't. But I need a turn to be the center of attention, to be the one everyone else is jealous of." Karen said.
"Wow. Little miss perfect? Ouch! That really hurts." I said, clutching my chest sarcastically. She just rolled her eyes.
"And last but not least, my reason. I'm the one that got everyone together to team up against you. I'm the one that started this all." Carson said.
"No duh." I said. Carson continued and ignored my comment.
"Don't you recognize me? Do I even look the slightest like my father?" Carson asked me. His father? Who the heck is his father?
"Umm...." I said, thinking. Father... Father... Father... Nope. Can't think of anything.
That's when it hit me. Carson Nichols. Nichols. As in Calvin Nichols. His father is the man who started it all. Calvin Nichols is the man who had held me hostage in my own house.
"Calvin." I gasped. A wicked smile crossed Carson's face.
"Bingo." He said.
(A/n: didn't see that coming, did you?(: hope you all liked this chapter!)
