I waited for the blow. I waited for the force of the bullet entering my body. But still, nothing. Maybe I'm already dead...
I realized that my eyes were squeezed shut. I opened one eye at a time, to see my brother and my mom staring at something behind me. I turned around, to see Carson on the ground, with a bullet hole in his leg.
"Wha- what happened?" I asked, looking over towards my former co-workers.
"Commander shot him." Davie said, smiling.
"But... Why? I though you were all after me..." I said. I'm so confused!
"It was all part of the plan." Commander said, smiling. "I knew Carson would try to get revenge, so I pretended to be working with him to get on the inside. Once I figured out his plan, I got Karen and Davie in on it." Wow. Commander's smarter than I thought. And they're all great actors! They had me fooled! We should put on a play! That would be fun! Coleson, stay focused!
"So... You were never going to kill me?" I asked. They all laughed at me.
"No! Are you kidding?" Karen said, between laughs.
"I would NEVER kill you!" Davie said, smiling. I smiled a little to myself. It's over. It's finally over.
"So, I'm going to be okay?" I asked, looking towards Commander.
"Yes, you'll be fine." He said, walking towards me. He bent down and whispered in my ear. "Get Bruce." I smirked, and then sprang into action. I chased Bruce down and tackled him to the ground. Davie tossed me some hand cuffs and I finished the job. I then heard another gun shot. I spun around, to see Carson was attempting to shoot Commander. I grabbed a gun that had been lying on the floor and released another bullet into Carson's leg.
"Owwww!" He howled from the pain.
"Maybe you should THINK before you ACT!" I said.
"You..." Carson said, before muttering a few colorful words. I just stuck my tongue out at him, enraging him even more. I then walked towards the windows to see there were police surrounding the house this entire time. I waved from the window and they smiled. I was completely protected this entire time. There was no true danger, not with the other agents in the house and the po-po outside.
I paraded out the front door, to see a crowd of people, news reporters, and other police officials standing in my yard. They cheered when I walked out to the front step. I waved and smiled. It felt as though I were famous.
"I would like to say a few things." I announced. They quieted down a bit and I could feel all of their eyes on me. "This wasn't an easy mission. I know what you're thinking. I'm from the CIA. I should be used to these types of things. This incident, was different. It was personal." I said.
I took another deep breath and continued. "You see, everyone has made mistakes, whether it was a mistake with your career, your family and friends, or even in school. Think about this. If we all live in the past, how can we appreciate the present?"
Everyone in the audience was still listening intently. "I just want to say, move on. Build a bridge and get over it, because the longer you hold on, the faster what's right in front of you, slips away." The crowd erupted with cheers and clapping. Commander came up behind me.
"You did good, agent. You did good." He said, smiling.
"No, WE did good." I said, smiling back.
