Cassandra felt shocked and horrified at her new look. What had Loki done to her? He simply smiled.
"We match." He said, watching as the humans ran scared.
"You're sick." Cassandra said, frowning.
Loki watched a moment longer, before growing tired. He began duplicating himself, herding in the people.
"Kneel before me." He said, as people still screamed and tried to flee.
"I said...KNEEL." He yelled, scaring the crowd into silence. They all slowly began to fall to their knees. Cassandra wanted to look away, but Loki grabbed her chin to watch.
"Is this not simpler? Is this not your natural state? It's the unspoken truth of humanity, that you crave subjugation. The bright lure of freedom diminishes your life's joy in a mad scramble for power, for identity. You were made to be ruled. In the end, you will always kneel." He said to the people. Cassandra searched over the crowd desperately. Steve had to be here somewhere, didn't he?
"What's next, Oracle?" Loki taunted. Cassandra looked at him in fear.
"I will not kneel to men like you." An old man said. Cassandra felt a small ping of hope in her chest. This is why she stayed with the people.
"There are no men like me." Loki spat, but Cassandra could tell his cocky arrogance was coming undone.
"There are always men like you." The old man said.
Loki chuckled darkly.
"Look to your elder, people. Let him be an example." He said, raising his scepter. As he fired a blast, Steve seemed to come out of nowhere to block the man. The blast ricocheted, hitting Loki. At this point, Cassandra ran to Steve.
"Stay behind me." He said to her. She nodded. "Y'know, the last time I was in Germany and saw a man standing above everyone else, we ended up disagreeing." Steve had an air of confidence and swagger about him, as most heroes did.
Loki rose to his feet, glaring at Steve.
"Ah, the soldier." He sneered, before laughing a bit. "The man out of time."
"I'm not the one who's out of time." Steve said, shaking his head as the small aircraft flew down near them. A gun came out of the ship, and a voice was heard.
"Loki, drop the weapon and stand down." Natasha said. Loki quickly fired a charge of energy at the ship, Natasha dodging just in time. Steve threw his shield at Loki, stunning him momentarily. Steve took this opportunity to grab Cassandra and run up to Loki. Catching his shield, Steve begins to punch him.
"Steve, he's a god! Punches from a human won't take him down!" Cassandra yelled, causing Steve to hesitate. In this moment of hesitation, Loki began the counterstrike. Steve blocked the first two swings of the scepter, but the third hit him right in the stomach. Cassandra gasped. "Steve, get up!" She yelled.
Steve nodded, throwing his shield. The shield was knocked to the ground, and Steve once again took him on hand to hand. Cassandra groaned, and watched as he was once again knocked to the ground. As Loki grabbed Cassandra by the waist, holding her tight against him, he rested his scepter on Steve's head.
"Kneel..." He muttered, before he was kicked away.
"Not today..." He said, moving Cassandra behind him once again. He kicked Loki right in the chest, and after getting up, Loki threw the super soldier.
Before anything else could continue, AC/DC started blasting from the ship's intercom. Cassandra smiled. Tony was here.
Tony blasted back Loki, then landed harshly. Pulling out his best weaponry, Tony had him bested.
